Architect Technologist will provide technical design and documentation support across retrofit and new-build projects, working closely with Architects, Retrofit Designers, Retrofit Coordinators and project teams in the UK, using Revit and Collaborate Pro.

The role will focus on developing coordinated, buildable and technically robust design information, including drawings, specifications, schedules and BIM models. The Architect Technologist will apply relevant UK standards, Building Regulations and project requirements to design information and support the delivery of consistent, high-quality technical outputs.

The role is primarily based in India and will work collaboratively with the UK design and project teams. Working Arrangements

- Office/home-based in India during agreed working hours.
- Regular collaboration with India/UK-based Architects, Retrofit Designers and project teams.
- Attendance at virtual coordination and design meetings as required.
- Virtual site-related work may be required through review of surveys, photographs, point-cloud information and site records.

Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Design & Documentation

- Develop technical design information for retrofit and current-build projects under the direction of the project Architect or Retrofit Designer.
- Produce accurate and coordinated drawings, details, schedules and specifications.
- Translate design intent and technical requirements into clear, buildable information.
- Develop construction details for building fabric, insulation, windows, doors, roofs and other retrofit measures.
- Incorporate information from surveys, existing drawings, point-cloud data and Retrofit Assessment reports into design information.
- Apply relevant UK Building Regulations, standards, guidance and project requirements to technical design work.
- Identify technical issues, inconsistencies or missing information and raise these with the project Architect or Retrofit Designer.
- Support the development of standardised details and technical solutions across recurring property types and archetypes.

1. BIM & Design Production

- Develop and maintain coordinated BIM models and drawings in accordance with DSL's BIM standards and project requirements.
- Produce and maintain Revit models, families, details and schedules as required.
- Ensure drawings and models are accurately coordinated and appropriately developed for their required level of detail.
- Follow agreed information management, naming, revision and document control procedures.




- Support the development and maintenance of BIM templates, standard details and technical libraries.
- Carry out drawing and model checks before information is issued for review.

1. Retrofit Technical Support

- Support Architects and Retrofit Designers in developing PAS 2035-compliant retrofit design information.
- Review existing building information and identify constraints that may affect proposed retrofit measures.
- Assist with the technical development of fabric-first retrofit solutions.
- Develop details to address interfaces between existing construction and proposed retrofit measures.
- Support coordination of ventilation, insulation, windows, doors, heating and other energy efficiency measures.
- Identify potential constructability, sequencing or coordination issues and raise them with the relevant design lead.
- Assist with responding to technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).

1. Design Coordination & Quality Assurance

- Coordinate architectural and technical information with other disciplines and project requirements.
- Undertake drawing, model and document checks in accordance with DSL's QA procedures.
- Ensure design information is consistent across drawings, models, schedules and specifications.
- Assist in identifying design risks, clashes, omissions and discrepancies before information is issued.
- Incorporate review comments and maintain accurate revision records.
- Support the Architect or Retrofit Designer in preparing information for internal and client review.

1. Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

- Work closely with India and UK-based Architects, Retrofit Designers, Retrofit Coordinators and project managers.
- Attend design coordination meetings and contribute technical information where appropriate.
- Communicate clearly when technical information is incomplete, unclear or requires further investigation.
- Coordinate with surveyors, consultants and contractors where required.
- Support junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the technical design team.

1. New Build & Net Zero Support

- Support the technical development of new-build projects targeting high energy performance and Net Zero Carbon outcomes.




- Develop technical information in accordance with the project requirements and relevant RIBA Stage.
- Support the integration of fabric-first principles and energy efficiency measures into technical design.
- Assist with the coordination of whole-life carbon and building performance requirements where these form part of the project scope.
- Develop and coordinate technical information through the relevant RIBA project stages under the direction of the project Architect.

1. Documentation & Information Management

- Prepare and maintain drawings, specifications, schedules and technical documentation within DSL's agreed filing and information management systems.
- Maintain accurate records of revisions, design decisions and technical queries.
- Ensure information is issued using agreed naming, revision and transmittal procedures.
- Support the team in maintaining accurate project trackers and design registers.

Skills & Experience
- Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology, Architecture or a related technical discipline.
- Experience producing architectural technical drawings and construction details.
- Strong knowledge of Revit and/or other relevant BIM/CAD software.
- Understanding of UK construction methods and technical standards.
- Valuable understanding of UK Building Regulations and an ability to research and apply relevant requirements.
- Experience with retrofit, residential construction or energy efficiency projects is desirable.
- Experience working with existing buildings, surveys or point-cloud information is desirable.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications and technical reports.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in design information.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively with UK-based teams across different time zones.
