Legal Counsel

Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal and commercial support across the organization. The role will be responsible for managing commercial contracts, legal documentation, regulatory compliance, intellectual property matters, employment-related legal requirements, litigation support, and day-to-day legal advisory.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice while effectively managing legal and regulatory risks.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial contracts, lease agreements, legal agreements, and business-related documentation.
- Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including drafting, review, negotiation, execution, renewals, amendments, compliance, and record management.
- Develop, standardize, update, and maintain legal and contractual templates across various business functions.
- Provide timely and practical legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on day-to-day commercial, corporate, employment, and operational matters.
- Promote a strong culture of legal compliance, governance, and risk management across the organization through appropriate guidance, awareness initiatives, and implementation of best practices.
- Support the management of the Company's intellectual property and trademark portfolio, including coordination with external IP counsel, internal branding teams, and relevant stakeholders.




- Coordinate matters relating to trademark registration, prosecution, renewals, objections, oppositions, and responses to legal notices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Shops and Establishments laws, labour and employment regulations, and other relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research and provide clear, practical, and business-focused recommendations to stakeholders.
- Monitor changes in applicable laws, rules, regulations, and regulatory guidelines that may impact the Company's operations, including relevant IRDAI regulations and insurance-sector requirements.
- Coordinate and support the management of litigation, disputes, legal notices, and external legal counsel, as and when required.
- Identify, assess, and support the mitigation of legal, contractual, regulatory, and operational risks across the organization.
- Work closely with business, HR, compliance, finance, operations, and other functional teams to ensure appropriate legal support and risk mitigation.
- Undertake travel, as required, to support business and operational requirements.
- Perform any other legal, compliance, or advisory responsibilities assigned from time to time.

Candidate Profile

Experience





- 35 years of relevant post-qualification experience (PQE) in a corporate or commercial legal environment.
- Strong experience in commercial contracts, contract management, legal advisory, labour and employment laws, regulatory compliance, and corporate legal matters.
- Prior experience working in an MNC, NBFC, insurance company, financial services organization, or established corporate legal function will be preferred.
- Experience in managing external legal counsel, litigation, intellectual property matters, and regulatory requirements will be an added advantage.

Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university or institution.
- Candidates with additional qualifications or specialization in Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Labour Law, or Regulatory Compliance will be preferred.

- Sound understanding of commercial and corporate legal practices.
- Strong knowledge of applicable labour, employment, and regulatory laws.
- Good understanding of the insurance and financial services regulatory environment, including IRDAI regulations.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business solutions.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, ownership, and qualified judgment.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
