Position: Business Development Manager

Reporting to: Managing Director / Director / Sales Head

Job Location: Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role The Business Development Manager (BDM) shall be responsible for driving business growth, developing new customer relationships, generating business opportunities, managing key accounts, and achieving revenue targets.

The incumbent will identify potential clients and projects, develop strategic business relationships, prepare commercial proposals, coordinate with internal teams, and support the organisation in expanding its market presence, particularly across the Crane Rental, Heavy Equipment, WTG Erection & Commissioning, Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, EPC, and related sectors.

The role requires strong business development skills, commercial understanding, negotiation ability, market knowledge, excellent communication, and a result-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

- Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve company growth objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, customers, projects, and market segments.
- Generate leads through market research, networking, references, digital platforms, industry contacts, and direct client engagement.
- Develop and maintain a robust business pipeline.
- Conduct regular client meetings and business development visits.
- Understand client requirements and propose suitable company services.
- Convert qualified leads into business opportunities and orders.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

Market Research & Business Expansion

- Conduct market research to identify potential industries, clients, projects, and upcoming opportunities.
- Track infrastructure, renewable energy, wind power, EPC, construction, and equipment rental projects.
- Identify new geographical markets for business expansion.
- Monitor competitor activities, market pricing, and industry trends.
- Prepare market intelligence reports for management.
- Develop strategies to improve the company's market presence.

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

- Develop relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Maintain regular communication with key decision-makers.
- Understand client requirements, project timelines, and commercial expectations.
- Maintain a database of prospective and existing customers.
- Ensure timely follow-up with clients.
- Develop long-term business relationships and repeat business opportunities.
- Handle client queries and coordinate internally for resolution.

Lead Generation & Pipeline Management

- Identify and qualify potential leads.
- Maintain an updated lead and opportunity tracker.
- Categorize opportunities based on probability, value, and expected closure date.
- Follow up regularly on pending proposals and quotations.
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline forecasts.
- Ensure timely escalation of high-value and strategic opportunities to management.

Proposal & Commercial Coordination

- Understand client scope of work and commercial requirements.
- Coordinate with Operations, Technical, Accounts, and Management teams for quotations.
- Prepare or coordinate commercial proposals and presentations.
- Support preparation of techno-commercial offers.
- Coordinate negotiations regarding pricing, payment terms, scope, and commercial conditions.
- Ensure proposals are submitted within defined timelines.
- Track submitted quotations until final decision.

Tender & Project Opportunity Management

- Identify relevant tenders and project opportunities.
- Coordinate with management and concerned departments for tender participation.
- Review tender requirements and commercial conditions.




- Coordinate collection of technical and commercial documents.
- Track tender submission dates and outcomes.
- Maintain records of submitted tenders and business opportunities.

Sales Negotiation & Order Conversion

- Negotiate with customers within approved commercial authority.
- Coordinate with management for approval of special pricing and commercial terms.
- Work towards maximizing order value and profitability.
- Ensure proper understanding of scope, payment terms, timelines, and contractual requirements before order closure.
- Coordinate with the concerned teams after order confirmation for smooth handover.

Key Account Management

- Manage relationships with important and strategic customers.
- Develop account-wise business plans.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and repeat orders.
- Monitor customer satisfaction.
- Maintain regular management updates on key accounts.
- Develop long-term strategic partnerships.

Internal Coordination

- Coordinate with Operations for project feasibility and resource availability.
- Coordinate with Accounts & Finance regarding commercial terms and payment conditions.
- Coordinate with HR/Admin for manpower-related requirements where applicable.
- Coordinate with Stores/Yard/Technical teams for equipment and operational requirements.
- Ensure proper handover of confirmed business to the Operations team.
- Follow up on project execution issues affecting customer relationships.

MIS & Management Reporting

Prepare and submit

- Daily / Weekly Sales Reports

- Monthly Business Development Reports

- Quotation & Proposal Tracking Reports

Present business development updates to management as required. Revenue & Collection Coordination

- Work towards achieving assigned revenue targets.
- Monitor order values and expected billing.
- Coordinate with Accounts for outstanding payment follow-up.
- Maintain awareness of customer credit status and payment commitments.
- Support the company in reducing overdue receivables through timely customer follow-up.

Team Management

Where applicable:

- Lead and supervise Business Development / Sales Executives.
- Allocate sales territories and responsibilities.
- Monitor individual sales performance.
- Conduct regular sales reviews.
- Guide team members on lead generation and client handling.
- Support training and development of sales personnel.

Mandatory Qualification

- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Engineering, or related discipline.

Preferred

- MBA / PGDM in Marketing, Sales, or Business Management.
- Engineering qualification will be an advantage for technical / industrial business development roles.
- Certification in Sales & Business Development will be an advantage.

Experience

- 5–8 years of relevant experience in Business Development / Sales / Key Account Management.
- Experience in Crane Rental, Heavy Equipment Rental, WTG Erection & Commissioning, Renewable Energy, Wind Power, EPC, Infrastructure, Construction, Manufacturing, Mining, or Engineering will be preferred.
- Experience in B2B / Industrial Sales will be strongly preferred.

Integrity, discipline, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies. Authority & Responsibility The Business Development Manager shall be responsible for developing business opportunities and customer relationships within the authority delegated by management.

The incumbent shall not commit the company to pricing, contractual terms, credit terms, project scope, or other commercial obligations beyond the approved authority without prior management approval.

Working Hours

As per Company Policy and business requirements.

The position may require travel, client meetings, site visits, and flexible working hours depending on business requirements.

Compensation

As per company norms and candidate's qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.

Pay: ₹11,354.01 - ₹40,546.62 per month
