Role Description The Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics will be a full-time, on-site faculty member based in Chennai, contributing to teaching, research, and academic administration within the Allied Health Sciences programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering lectures, practical sessions, and tutorials in bioinformatics and related subjects; developing course materials, assessments, and learning resources; and mentoring students on academic projects and research activities.

The role involves conducting and publishing research in bioinformatics, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects, and seeking external funding where appropriate.

The Assistant

Professor will participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development,



accreditation processes, and academic quality initiatives. Additional responsibilities include student advising, participation in seminars and workshops, and contributing to the overall academic and research culture of the institution.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in bioinformatics, computational biology, and related life sciences, with the ability to teach core and advanced topics.
- Proficiency in relevant programming or scripting languages (such as R, Python) and familiarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and pipelines.
- Demonstrated research experience in bioinformatics or allied domains, supported by publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
- Effective teaching, mentoring, and classroom management skills, with a student-centered and inclusive approach to instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives.
- Minimum of a postgraduate degree (M.Sc./M.Tech) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related field; a Ph.D. is preferred.
- Experience with curriculum development, academic assessment, and use of educational technologies will be an added advantage.
