Position: Assistant Professor

Department: Obstetrics & Gynecology

Location: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

Reporting To: Head of Department / Dean / Medical Superintendent

1. Job Purpose

The Assistant Professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, academic activities, and contributing to the overall development of the department. The candidate is expected to maintain professional standards and comply with applicable NMC and institutional guidelines.
1. Key Responsibilities

A. Clinical Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients in the Obstetrics & Gynecology department.
- Conduct OPD consultations and evaluate patients appropriately.
- Manage obstetric and gynecological cases, including routine and emergency cases.
- Participate in labour room, emergency, ward and OT duties as assigned.
- Perform procedures and surgeries within the scope of qualification and institutional privileges.
- Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets, discharge summaries and clinical documentation.
- Ensure timely diagnosis, treatment and appropriate referral of patients.
- Participate in emergency and on-call duties as per the departmental roster.

B. Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

- Conduct lectures, tutorials, demonstrations and clinical teaching for MBBS students.
- Participate in bedside teaching, case presentations, seminars, journal clubs and other academic activities.
- Guide students in clinical learning and practical skills.
- Assist in internal assessments,



examinations and other academic evaluations.
- Participate in departmental academic meetings and curriculum-related activities.
- Maintain teaching records and documentation as required.

C. Research & Professional Development

- Participate in clinical research and academic projects.
- Encourage evidence-based clinical practices within the department.
- Contribute to research publications, presentations and conferences.
- Keep updated with current developments and advances in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME), workshops and professional development activities.

D. Administrative & Quality Responsibilities

- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, clinical protocols and ethical standards.
- Maintain compliance with NMC norms and applicable statutory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety and infection-control initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and institutional information.
- Coordinate effectively with consultants, residents, nursing staff and other hospital departments.
- Perform other duties assigned by the HOD, Dean or competent authority.

1. Qualification & Eligibility

- MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized institution.
- Eligibility and experience should be as per applicable NMC norms.




- Valid registration with the appropriate Medical Council/NMC as applicable.
- Teaching and clinical experience in a medical college/hospital will be preferred.

1. Working Conditions

The position involves clinical, teaching and administrative responsibilities within the medical college and hospital. The Assistant Professor may be required to work rotational shifts, emergency duties, night duties and on-call services as per institutional requirements.
