Summary
A highly experienced Senior Linux Administrator with 5–8 years of expertise, capable of handling complex L2 and L3 operational scenarios. The role demands advanced Red Hat skills, hands-on AWS cloud experience, strong automation capabilities, and the ability to lead technical initiatives. The candidate will act as a technical escalation point, drive infrastructure standardisation, and contribute to cloud-adoption roadmaps.
Roles & Responsibilities
L3 Operations & Technical Leadership
Serve as the primary L3 escalation point for complex Linux infrastructure incidents.
Perform deep-dive root cause analysis involving kernel, networking, storage, and application layers.
Lead post-incident reviews define and track corrective action plans.
Manage performance profiling, and capacity planning.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) – Advanced
Architect, deploy, and manage RHEL-based environments across bare metal, virtualisation (VMware/KVM), and cloud.
Administer Red Hat Satellite for lifecycle management, patch orchestration, and content views.
Configure and manage RHEL High Availability clusters (Pacemaker / Corosync).
Manage IdM (Identity Management) / FreeIPA for centralised authentication and authorisation.
Implement and troubleshoot SELinux policies, audit frameworks, and compliance hardening (CIS/STIG).
Manage Red Hat Insights for proactive risk detection and remediation.
AWS Cloud Operations
Design, deploy, and manage Linux workloads on AWS (EC2, Auto Scaling, EBS, EFS, S3, VPC).
Implement IAM roles, security groups, and network ACLs following least-privilege principles.
Use AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for patch management, run commands, and session management.
Manage CloudWatch monitoring, alarms, and log groups for Linux infrastructure.
Participate in cloud cost optimisation exercises (right-sizing, reserved instances, spot usage).
Support migration of on-premises Linux workloads to AWS.
Automation & DevOps Integration
Develop and maintain Ansible roles and playbooks for configuration management at scale.
Author shell and Python scripts to automate operational tasks, reporting, and remediation.
Integrate with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitLab CI) for infrastructure automation.
Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform or CloudFormation (basic).
Manage code repositories and review peers' automation scripts for quality and security.
Mentorship & Governance
Mentor CL-11 and CL-12 administrators conduct technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
Define and enforce operational standards, SOPs, and runbooks.
Participate in CAB review change risk assessments and provide technical sign-off.
Contribute to audit readiness and compliance reviews.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS (MANDATORY / STRONGLY PREFERRED)
RHCSA – required
RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) – required
RHCA (Red Hat Certified Architect) or relevant RHEL specialist cert – highly desirable
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (required or to be achieved within 6 months)
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (desirable)
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Linux.
- Strong knowledge of system monitoring and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve application issues.
- Experience with scripting languages to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Ability to analyze logs and system outputs to troubleshoot complex problems effectively.
- Familiarity with configuration management and deployment processes in a production environment.
- Understanding of networking concepts and their impact on application performance.
Additional Information
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Linux.
- This position is based at our Pune office.
