– Experienced Antenna Design Engineer

Experience: 2–5 Years

Domain: Radar / Electronic Warfare (EW) / RF Systems

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Antenna Design Engineer with 2–3 years of hands-on experience in antenna design, electromagnetic simulation, RF testing, prototype development, and system integration. The candidate will work on antenna solutions for Radar, Electronic Warfare (EW), RF sensing, and communication systems, taking designs from requirements and simulation through prototype development, characterization, optimization, validation, and system integration.

The role requires strong fundamentals in electromagnetic theory, RF engineering, antenna design, and RF measurements, along with practical experience using EM simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS, FEKO, or equivalent tools.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Antenna Design & Optimization
- Design and optimize patch, monopole, dipole, horn, microstrip, broadband, and array antennas.
- Translate system requirements such as frequency, bandwidth, gain, beamwidth, polarization, and coverage into antenna specifications.
- Optimize S11, VSWR, impedance matching, gain, directivity, efficiency, radiation pattern, bandwidth, and polarization.
- EM Simulation & Analysis
- Develop and analyze antenna models using CST, HFSS, FEKO, or equivalent EM tools.
- Perform parameter sweeps, optimization, Smith-chart analysis, radiation-pattern analysis, and surface-current analysis.
- Identify performance deviations and implement appropriate design improvements.
- Prototype Development & RF Testing
- Coordinate antenna fabrication and prototype development.
- Perform VNA calibration, S-parameter, return-loss, VSWR, gain, radiation-pattern, and polarization measurements.
- Use RF laboratory equipment including VNA,



spectrum analyzer, signal generator, RF power meter, and anechoic chamber facilities.
- Simulation-to-Measurement Correlation
- Compare simulated and measured antenna performance.
- Troubleshoot deviations caused by fabrication tolerances, connectors, cables, substrate properties, mounting structures, and environmental effects.
- Radar/EW System Integration
- Support antenna integration with RF front ends, LNAs, PAs, filters, switches, transceivers, SDRs, and Radar/EW systems.
- Troubleshoot impedance mismatch, RF losses, interference, coupling, reduced gain, and radiation-pattern distortion.
- Coordinate with RF, mechanical, electronics, signal-processing, and system engineering teams.
- Antenna Arrays & Beamforming
- Support antenna array and phased-array design and analysis.
- Analyze element spacing, array factor, mutual coupling, beamwidth, sidelobe levels, grating lobes, and beam-steering performance.
- Testing, Validation & Documentation
- Conduct laboratory characterization, system validation, environmental testing, and field trials.
- Prepare design documents, simulation reports, test plans, test procedures, measurement reports, and design-review documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Electrical, RF/Microwave Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2–5years of hands-on experience in antenna design, simulation, RF testing,



or related areas.
- Solid knowledge of:
- Electromagnetic field theory and antenna fundamentals
- Smith chart and S-parameters, Gain, directivity, bandwidth and beam widths, VSWR and return loss and Radiation patterns and polarization
- Hands-on experience with CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS, FEKO, or equivalent EM simulation tools.
- Practical experience with VNA measurements, calibration, antenna characterization, and RF laboratory testing.
- Basic to intermediate MATLAB/Python knowledge for antenna/RF data processing, analysis, plotting, and automation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with antenna arrays, phased arrays, beam steering, and beamforming.
- Exposure to antenna systems used in Radar, Electronic Warfare (EW), RF surveillance, Direction Finding (DF), or communication systems.
- Experience with antenna fabrication, tuning, anechoic chamber testing, gain measurement, and radiation-pattern characterization.
- Knowledge of RF components including LNA, PA, filters, RF switches, couplers, attenuators, cables, and connectors.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC, antenna isolation, coupling, grounding, shielding, and RF interference.

Nature of Work The role involves antenna design, EM simulation, prototype development, RF laboratory testing, antenna characterization, system integration, troubleshooting, documentation, and field validation. The engineer will be expected to take technical ownership of assigned antenna activities and contribute to the development of reliable antenna solutions for Radar, EW, and advanced RF systems. Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
