Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and responsible Anesthesia Technician to support the Anaesthesiologist and Operation Theatre team in the safe and efficient delivery of anesthesia services. The technician will be responsible for preparing anesthesia equipment, consumables and emergency equipment before procedures and ensuring proper cleaning, maintenance and readiness after each case.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and check the anesthesia machine, ventilator, monitors, oxygen supply and suction apparatus before procedures.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of airway equipment, breathing circuits, laryngoscopes, ET tubes and other anesthesia accessories.
- Assist the Anaesthesiologist during induction, maintenance and recovery from anesthesia as directed.
- Ensure anesthesia drugs, consumables and emergency equipment are readily available as per hospital protocol.
- Assist with patient preparation and positioning in coordination with the Anaesthesiologist and OT team.
- Assist with airway management and monitoring equipment as instructed by the Anaesthesiologist.
- Check anesthesia trolley and emergency equipment before the start of each shift.
- Clean, disinfect, sterilize and maintain anesthesia equipment according to infection-control protocols.
- Identify equipment malfunction and immediately report it to the concerned authority.
- Maintain adequate stock of anesthesia consumables and inform the concerned department regarding shortages.
- Maintain proper records of equipment checks, consumables and other anesthesia-related activities.
- Support emergency procedures and resuscitation/code-blue activities when required.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the anesthesia area between surgical cases.
- Follow hospital policies, patient-safety standards, infection-control procedures and NABH requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with Anaesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses and other OT staff.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the department head or management.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Anesthesia Technology / B.Sc. Operation Theatre & Anesthesia Technology preferred.
- Diploma in Anesthesia Technology may also be considered based on experience.
- Freshers and experienced candidates can be considered.
- Knowledge of anesthesia equipment and OT procedures is preferred.
- BLS certification is an added advantage.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, weekends and emergency duties.
Experience
- Freshers can apply.
- Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in Anesthesia / OT will be preferred.
