Job Summary
Kuku TV is looking for a Mid-Senior Video Editor (2-5 years) who can turn scripts, performances, live-action footage, and AI-generated visuals into high-retention, binge-worthy micro-dramas. This role is ideal for an editor who understands that great short-form storytelling is not just about cutting footage-it s about hooking viewers, building emotion, escalating conflict, and ending every episode with a reason to watch the next one.
You ll work across live-action + AI-generated content in a fast-paced, high-volume episodic production environment.
Responsibilities
Storytelling Editing
- Edit live-action and AI-generated micro-dramas for mobile-first audiences.
- Create powerful opening hooks, emotional peaks, reveals, twists, payoffs, and cliffhangers.
- Shape dialogue, performances, music, SFX, voiceovers, and visuals into compelling narratives.
- Select the strongest takes to maximise emotion, conflict, suspense, and character relationships.
- Maintain strong pacing, visual rhythm, dialogue clarity, narrative progression, and audience retention.
- Apply principles of information control, escalating conflict, pattern interruption, and retention-driven editing.
Mobile-First Storytelling
- Edit specifically for vertical 9:16 formats and mobile viewing.
- Maintain strong composition, visual hierarchy, readable performances, and screen impact.
- Understand how to optimise storytelling for short attention spans and binge consumption.
AI Video VFX
- Work confidently with AI-generated characters, environments, performances, and shots.
- Identify and fix AI-video issues such as facial inconsistencies, lip-sync errors, flickering, warping, unnatural movement, frame instability, and continuity issues.
- Handle AI-assisted post-production including lip-sync correction, cleanup, upscaling, frame interpolation, shot extension, masking, tracking, compositing, and background replacement.
- Know when an AI shot can be fixed in post-production and when it needs to be regenerated.
Visual Sound Finishing
- Seamlessly integrate live-action and AI footage through colour correction, grading, reframing, compositing, motion treatment, and visual matching.
- Create titles, captions, transitions, motion graphics, VFX, recaps, end cards, and promotional elements when required.
- Handle dialogue editing, music, ambience, Foley, and SFX to strengthen emotional and dramatic impact.
- Ensure clear audio balance across mobile devices and viewing environments.
Production Collaboration
- Maintain story, character, costume, location, lighting, eyeline, spatial, and performance continuity.
- Manage multiple episodes, revisions, and priorities in a fast-moving production pipeline.
- Collaborate with directors, writers, creative producers, AI artists, and sound designers.
- Implement feedback accurately and meet tight delivery timelines.
- Maintain organised project files, proxies, media libraries, naming conventions, version histories, templates, and archival masters.
- Perform creative and technical QC and deliver final episodes to required platform, codec, resolution, frame-rate, aspect-ratio, and audio specifications.
What we re looking for
Must Have
- 2-7 years of professional video-editing experience, preferably in fiction, micro-dramas, web series, films, TV, advertising, digital entertainment, or narrative short-form content.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling, dramatic pacing, emotional editing, and technical polish.
- Advanced Adobe Premiere Pro skills.
- Advanced Adobe after Effects skills, including compositing, masking, and tracking, cleanup, and motion graphics.
- Strong knowledge of Gen AI tool - Runaway, ElevanLabs, Kling, Veo, Adobe Firefly, Topaz or equivalent
- Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve for colour correction, grading, finishing, and media management.
- Strong understanding of narrative structure, screen direction, continuity, performance selection, montage, shot progression, and visual rhythm.
- Experience editing dialogue-driven scenes, romance, emotional sequences, action, confrontations, reveals, and cliffhangers.
- Strong understanding of audience retention and mobile-first 9:16 storytelling.
- Experience working with both live-action and AI-generated footage.
- Strong understanding of sound editing, dialogue balancing, music placement, ambience, Foley, and SFX.
- Ability to colour-match footage from different cameras, tools, and production pipelines.
- Strong eye for character, facial, costume, prop, lighting, eyeline, spatial, and background continuity.
- Ability to manage multiple episodes, revisions, and deadlines in a high-volume production setting.
AI Experience
Experience with generative AI video/image, lip-sync, cleanup, enhancement, upscaling, interpolation, shot extension, and compositing workflows is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluent Hindi and working proficiency in English.
- Experience with micro-dramas, vertical dramas, episodic fiction, web series, or retention-driven entertainment.
- Experience in fast-turnaround, high-volume episodic production.
- Familiarity with subtitles, dubbing, localisation, and multilingual versioning.
- Knowledge of proxy workflows, shared storage, media relinking, project templates, automated syncing, and structured post-production handoffs.
- Basic understanding of OTT and digital-platform delivery standards.
- Film editing, filmmaking, media production, animation, or related degree/diploma is a plus, but not mandatory.
