We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Accountant with 6+ years of experience to join our growing finance team and take ownership of the commercial and financial control of large-scale turnkey projects in the ₹100 Cr – ₹150 Cr range, from budget setup through to final account closure.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end project accounting for turnkey ultra-high purity contracts valued between ₹100 Cr and ₹150 Cr. Set up project budgets and cost codes at award stage and maintain the project ledger through to final account closure.
- Apply percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, preparing supporting workings for cost incurred to date, WIP, unbilled revenue and contract assets/liabilities for monthly and annual closing.
- Drive project cash flow planning and receivables follow-up, including advance recovery, retention release, and tracking of bank guarantees and letters of credit against contractual milestones.
- Ensure statutory compliance across project transactions, covering GST on works contracts, TDS, e-invoicing and e-way bills, and support departmental assessments and notices with project-level documentation.
- Prepare and maintain cost-to-complete forecasts for each project, tracking committed, incurred and accrued costs against the approved budget. Flag variances and margin erosion early to the project and management teams.
- Manage milestone and progress billing in line with contract terms,
coordinating with project managers on measurement certificates, retention, price variation and approved change orders or variations.
- Review subcontractor and vendor RA bills against work orders and purchase orders, and reconcile site material consumption and free-issue materials to certified quantities before release of payment.
- Coordinate statutory, internal and cost audits for project accounts, and publish monthly project P&L; and MIS reporting from the ERP to the CFO and project leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified; exceptional candidates with CA Inter or M.Com and strong project accounting depth will also be considered
- 6+ years of post-qualification experience in project accounting within EPC, turnkey contracting, capital projects or a comparable project-driven workplace
- Demonstrated hands-on ownership of individual project portfolios in the ₹100 Cr – ₹150 Cr range, including budget control, WIP and final account settlement
- Strong working knowledge of revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting for long-duration contracts
- Proficiency in ERP along with advanced Excel for cost modelling and variance analysis
- Sound command of Indian statutory requirements relevant to projects, including GST on works contracts, TDS, e-invoicing and e-way bill provisions
- Practical understanding of contract commercial terms such as milestone billing, retention, liquidated damages, bank guarantees, advances and price variation clauses
- Proven ability to partner with project managers, procurement and site teams, and to hold commercial discipline in a fast-moving delivery environment
- High standards of accuracy and integrity, with the ability to consistently meet monthly closing and audit deadlines
- Ability to communicate financial and commercial matters clearly, both verbally and in writing, in English
