BG Global is hiring Textile Designer for a leading carpet manufacturing and export company with a strong global presence. The role combines textile design, handloom production, artisan training, and project management to build sustainable livelihoods through handloom weaving.
The selected candidate will take ownership of the weaving unit and skill development centre, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while supporting artisan capacity building and the successful implementation of weaving programmes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day operations and overall management of the weaving unit and skill development centre, including planning, execution, - supervision, and administration.
- Conduct and manage training programmes in handloom weaving and Jamdani weaving for current artisan batches.
- Lead the annual Jamdani Pilot Programme and implement Obeetee’s training curriculum while contributing to its continuous refinement.
- Manage end-to-end weaving and livelihood projects, including planning, coordination, procurement, logistics, production, stakeholder management, reporting, and timely execution.
- Develop woven fabric concepts, weave structures, colour palettes, and design directions aligned with the organisation’s creative vision.
- Translate design ideas into commercially and aesthetically compelling handloom textiles in collaboration with artisans and master weavers.
- Maintain inventories,
production records, documentation, and regular project updates.
- Monitor resource utilisation and identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows.
- Foster a collaborative and disciplined working environment that encourages learning, skill development, craftsmanship, and community engagement.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of professional experience in handloom textiles, artisan development, craft-based design, or textile production.
- Strong understanding of weaving structures and handloom processes; knowledge of Jamdani weaving is an advantage.
- Experience working with artisan communities, NGOs, social enterprises, or craft organisations is desirable.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a rural field environment with a hands-on approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
- Proficiency in spoken Bengali is highly desirable.
