Job Description ABOUT THE ROLE
n Vijayi Bharat Foundation is looking for a foreign expert to join their HPC in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
n The Head Coach – Compound Archery at Vijayi Bharat Foundation will play a pivotal role in leading
n the development and performance of the compound archery programme, across both men's and
n women's events, including archers across senior, junior and cadet age groups. The core
n responsibility of this position is to deliver world-class performance coaching, establish performance
n plans, and ensure that athletes are fully prepared to compete at the highest levels, both nationally
n and internationally. Key aspects of the role include integrating training with sports science,
n performance analysis, and competition readiness while maintaining alignment with VBF's vision
n and high-performance culture. Other responsibilities include overseeing the progression of athletes
n through the talent pathway, providing oversight on equipment and logistics to enable an optimal
n daily training environment. Success in this role will require a deep technical understanding of
n compound archery, prior experience of producing medallists at global events with national teams,
n having exceptional track record of performance development, and the ability to work seamlessly
n within a multidisciplinary team. Leadership, high ethical standards, emotional intelligence, and

n ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
n 1. Performance Coaching
n • Conduct regular training sessions for VBF compound archers, focusing on technical skill
n development, equipment set up, mental preparation, performance mindset and tactical
n strategies.
n • Evaluate athlete performance and deliver transparent, balanced feedback that combines corrective
n instruction with motivation.
n • Aide archers in personalised bow set tuning and maintenance of compound-specific (release
n aids, peep, stabilisers).
n • Ensuring alignment of standards and consistency in development methodologies across the
n talent development pathway.
n • Provide on-ground coaching support during competitions as well as pre-competition
n preparation to VBF compound archers.
n 2. Performance Planning
n • Develop and implement performance plans that optimise the technical, tactical, physical, and
n mental development of VBF compound archers, ensuring athletes are fully prepared to
n compete at the highest levels, including reputed international competitions.
n • Establish IAPs (Individualised Athlete Plans) appropriate to their age, potential, and
n performance goals, incorporating essential training camps, qualifying competitions and key
n events/competitions.
n • Adapt plans to individual athlete needs and ensure interventions are evidence-based.
n • Work closely with Performance Managers and the High Performance Director to establish
n individualised and roster-wide performance plans, setting short- and long-term goals.3. Monitoring and Evaluation
n • Maintain a digital database of training sessions and athlete logs to review progress regularly.
n • Monitor and assess athlete progress, making necessary adjustments to plans based on
n performance indicators, outcomes and feedback.
n • Utilize performance monitoring/analysis tools including but not limited to Dartfish, MantisX,
n wearables and AMS for tracking performance, and incorporating suitable interventions.
n • Collaborate with the High Performance Director and Performance Managers to conduct
n periodic athlete reviews.
n 4. Integration with Multi-Disciplinary Team
n • Work closely with performance partners (support services) to ensure that all aspects of sports
n science and sports medicine are aligned with the performance goals of the compound archers.
n • Engage with sports science specialists to ensure athlete readiness and athlete welfare, in line
n with VBF's holistic approach to athlete development.
n • Integrate data and feedback from performance services and sports medicine experts into
n training plans, helping athletes optimise their performance.
n • Work with the talent scouting team to identify and recruit emerging talent, ensuring a pipeline
n that supports athlete progression from grassroots to elite levels.
n 5. Leadership and Oversight
n • Provide technical direction for the compound archery programme as per global best practices,
n ensuring alignment with VBF's vision, mission and performance goals.
n • Foster an inclusive, cohesive, positive, professional and high-performance culture that aligns
n with VBF values.
n • Contribute to the development of strategies focusing on novel international technical, tactical
n and technological trends to improve performance standards.
n • Mentor and upskill junior coaches, offering feedback on coaching techniques, athlete
n management, and performance planning.
n • Lead and manage athletes during domestic and international competitions and training camps.
n 6. Equipment and Logistics
n • Work alongside the Sport Manager to procure suitable equipment for the archers periodically.
n • Oversee the allocation of equipment to archers under the programme, ensuring the optimal
n utilization of equipment including but not limited to bow sets, arrows and other accessories.• Coordinate with the Sport Manager to plan travel and accommodation arrangements for
n competitions and camps.
n • Work closely with the Sport Manager to identify and recommend any gaps in the FoP for
n enabling an optimal Daily Training Workplace (DTE) for the archers.
n 7. Other Responsibilities
n • Maintain safeguarding and professional standards in adherence to VBF policies and national
n guidelines.
n • Liaise with external bodies, such as international, continental and national archery federation
n to represent the interests of VBF's programme and its athletes.
n • Undertake any other duties as requested by the High Performance Director.
n QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
n Essential Requirements
n • Graduate in any field from a recognized university OR a highly accomplished former athlete.
n • Diploma/Certificate in Archery Coaching from a recognised institute or World Archery.
n • Ten or more years of coaching experience in competitive compound archery across domestic
n and international eco-systems.
n • Proven track record of athlete development and performance (World Cup and Continental
n Cup level).
n • Strong technical knowledge of compound-specific equipment tuning and maintenance.
n • Demonstrable professional attributes: strong communication with fluency in spoken English,
n emotional intelligence, and high ethical standards.
n • Satisfactory background check/police clearance in line with the organization's child
n safeguarding policy.
n • Confident in using common digital tools for administration, session logging and admin tasks.
n • Ability and willingness to work weekends, public holidays, irregular hours and travel to
n competitions, and camps when required.
n Desirable Requirements
n • Bachelors/Master's degree in Performance Coaching, Sports or another related area.
n • World Archery or equivalent international advanced coaching certification.• Higher than 15 years of coaching experience in competitive compound archery across
n domestic and international eco-systems.
n • Diploma or short-course certifications in areas such as Talent Development, High-
n performance Sport or Video/Performance Analysis.
n • Proven history of producing individual medallists at World Championships, World Cups or
n demonstrable success at continental competitions.
n • Proficiency in using MantisX, Dartfish or other video analysis tools/software.
n • First Aid and CPR certifications.
