Role Title:
WordPress Support & Troubleshooting Intern
Location:
Remote
Internship Type:
Full-time | Paid | Duration: 3 months
Role Overview:
We are looking for a WordPress Support & Troubleshooting Intern who can troubleshoot websites beyond the WordPress dashboard. The candidate should have an interest in understanding the complete website infrastructure — from the domain and DNS to hosting/server configuration, cPanel, WordPress files, databases and the WordPress admin panel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle day-to-day WordPress website support and maintenance tasks.
- Investigate website issues systematically and identify the root cause rather than applying temporary fixes.
- Troubleshoot issues across WordPress, website files, databases, hosting, DNS, domain and SSL layers.
- Research documentation, technical forums and developer resources to find solutions to unfamiliar problems.
- Implement fixes where appropriate and verify that the website is functioning correctly after changes.
- Work with developers or hosting providers when an issue requires advanced technical or server-level intervention.
- Perform website checks after updates, migrations, backups and major changes.
- Document issues, root causes and solutions clearly.
Technical Areas:
- WordPress administration, themes, plugins and page builders
- cPanel and other hosting control panels
- WordPress File Manager and website file structure
- PHP and basic PHP configuration
- MySQL and phpMyAdmin
- HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript
- Domain and DNS management
- SSL and HTTPS issues
- .htaccess, redirects and URL configuration
- Website migration, backup and restoration
- Hosting/server errors such as 500, 502, 503 and 504
- Cloudflare/CDN basics
- Website performance and troubleshooting
- Browser Developer Tools
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to independently research and find solutions.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of WordPress.
- Understanding of website hosting and server concepts.
- Good understanding of HTML and CSS.
- Basic knowledge of PHP, JavaScript and MySQL is preferred.
- Ability to use browser Developer Tools to investigate website issues.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify issues that are not immediately obvious.
What We're Looking for: The most important quality for this role is problem-solving ability. The candidate should not stop at “I couldn't find the issue.” They should be willing to investigate, research, test, fix and verify until the actual cause of the problem is understood.
A typical troubleshooting approach should be: Identify the problem → Investigate the source → Research → Test → Fix → Verify.
Good To Have:
- Experience with Elementor/Elementor Pro or other WordPress page builders.
- Familiarity with hosting platforms such as SiteGround, GoDaddy, Hostinger, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Cloudflare and DNS.
- Experience with website migration and backups.
- Basic understanding of website performance and PageSpeed Insights.
- Experience with Git or basic development workflows.
- Prior internship, freelance or personal WordPress project experience.
Experience: 0–1 year / Freshers can apply. Candidates with robust troubleshooting skills and hands-on WordPress experience will be preferred over candidates with only theoretical knowledge.
Key Success Measures:
The intern should gradually be able to take a WordPress support issue from problem identification to resolution with minimal supervision, while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated to a developer or hosting provider.
