Verification Operations Head

About the Role

We're looking for a senior Background Verification (BGV) operations leader to build and run our in-house Verification function from the ground up — hiring, training, and managing a team of 100–150 fresher verifiers responsible for conducting candidate background/report verification at scale. You'll own this function end-to-end: team build-out, training systems, day-to-day management, and report output.

Why BGV background specifically matters for this role

This is not a generalist operations role — it's a build-from-scratch verification operation, and we need someone who already knows what "good" looks like rather than learning it at our expense. A BGV veteran already understands standard turnaround benchmarks, accuracy standards, and the common fraud patterns verifiers need to catch — forged documents, fake employment letters, mismatched education certificates, inconsistent dates and details. They also already know how to train a team to conduct verification calls effectively — including how to phrase a call to a previous employer's HR department so it actually gets answered, and how to handle a company that refuses to confirm details.

This is learned-the-hard-way knowledge that we want walking in on day one, not figured out live on our first few hundred verifications.

What you'll own

- End-to-end hiring of 100–150 fresher verifiers, on a rolling, continuous basis to offset natural attrition and support scale
- Building a tiered management structure underneath (Team Leads / Cluster Leads) so a 100–150 person team is never unmanaged, regardless of headcount
- Designing and running the full training program for new verifiers — call scripts, document-checking standards, red-flag identification, and quality benchmarks, drawn from your own BGV domain experience
- Full ownership of report output — verification turnaround time, accuracy, and volume targets across the entire team
- Day-to-day team management:



performance monitoring, quality audits, escalation handling, and continuous process improvement
- Reporting verification output, team health, and quality metrics directly to the COO

What we're looking for — hard requirement

- 8–12+ years of experience specifically in Background Verification (BGV) or KYC operations — either at a BGV service company (e.g., AuthBridge, IDfy, SpringVerify, First Advantage, or similar), or running an in-house BGV/KYC verification team at a large employer, bank, or NBFC
- Proven experience building a verification team from scratch and scaling it to 100+ people, including continuous hiring to offset fresher attrition
- Deep, practical knowledge of verification methodology — document authentication, employment/education verification call technique, fraud/red-flag identification
- Strong training and SOP-building instincts — able to design a structured onboarding and quality program for fresh graduates with no prior verification experience
- Track record of owning output/throughput metrics directly — turnaround time, accuracy rate, volume — not just people management in the abstract
- Comfortable with high-volume, process-driven operations where both quality and speed matter, and building the systems that keep both consistent as the team grows

What we're looking for — valuable to have

- Experience specifically in-house at a large enterprise (rather than only at a BGV service company), given this role is building an internal function rather than serving external clients
- Familiarity with verification/case-management software or tools used to track high-volume verification workflows

What you'll build the team with The 100–150 verifiers are fresher hires from any graduate stream — screened primarily for communication skills (many verification checks involve calling a candidate's previous employer or institution) and attention to detail, not a specific degree background. You will own defining and refining this hiring/screening criteria as the function scales, drawing on your prior BGV hiring experience.
