Company Description AQUA X FOUL is a pioneering startup transforming the maritime industry through autonomous, AI-driven ROV technology for precision hull cleaning. The company focuses on replacing hazardous, diver-dependent operations with safer, smarter, and more efficient solutions.
Its advanced imaging systems measure biofouling thickness in real time and dynamically adjust jet pressure to optimize cleaning performance. Joining AQUA X FOUL offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics and AI applications that directly impact maritime safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Role Description As a User Experience Designer at AQUA X FOUL, you will design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for AI-driven ROV control and monitoring systems in a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and maritime operations specialists to understand user needs and translate them into clear workflows and interaction patterns.
Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting user research, creating wireframes and interactive prototypes, defining information architecture, and delivering visual design assets for web and desktop applications. You will iterate on designs based on user feedback and usability testing,
help establish design guidelines and patterns, and contribute to a cohesive product experience across all touchpoints. The role also involves documenting design decisions, presenting concepts to stakeholders, and ensuring accessibility and usability standards are consistently met.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in User Experience (UX) and Design Thinking, with the ability to translate complex technical workflows into clear, user-friendly experiences.
- Experience with User Research, including interviews, observations, surveys, and usability testing tailored to professional and industrial user groups.
- Proficiency in Visual Design and Prototyping using modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) to create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and maritime operations, and to communicate design rationale clearly.
- Understanding of accessibility and usability standards, with attention to detail and robust problem-solving skills.
- Experience designing for technical or industrial products, robotics, or data-intensive interfaces is an advantage.
