Job Summary

The System Engineer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and hardware appliances. With 2 years of hands-on experience, the candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills in system administration, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring, ensuring reliable and secure operations across datacenter and enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Server Administration

- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers

- Perform routine patching, updates, and system hardening

- Monitor server performance and proactively resolve issues

Storage & Backup Management

- Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS)

- Implement and monitor backup and recovery solutions

- Ensure data integrity and availability

Hardware Appliances

- Administer and support hardware appliances including firewalls, load balancers, and storage controllers

- Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate with vendors for support

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

- Use monitoring tools (Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds) to track system health





- Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide timely resolutions

- Document incidents and maintain updated system logs

Collaboration & Support

- Work closely with network and security teams to ensure integrated infrastructure

- Provide Tier-2 support for escalated system issues

- Assist in infrastructure upgrades and migrations

Core Technical Skills

- Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu)

- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Hyper-V

- Storage Systems: SAN, NAS, RAID configurations

- Hardware Appliances: Firewalls, load balancers, storage controllers.

- Monitoring Tools: Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds

- Scripting: Basic knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

- 2+ years of experience in system engineering or IT infrastructure support

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Certifications (Preferred)

- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration

- VMware Certified Associate (VCA)

- CompTIA Server+ or equivalent

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
