Role Description The Speech role is a full-time, on-site position based at SKS Hospital & Postgraduate Medical Institute in Salem. The professional in this role will assess, diagnose, and manage speech, language, and communication disorders for patients across different age groups.
Typical day-to-day tasks include conducting clinical evaluations, developing individualized therapy plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions in coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The role involves maintaining accurate clinical documentation, monitoring patient progress, and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
The professional will also educate patients and families about therapy goals and home-based exercises, participate in case discussions, and contribute to quality improvement and clinical training activities within the institute.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, or Communication Disorders from a recognized institution; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Valid professional registration or licensure (as applicable) and adherence to current clinical best practices and ethical standards.
- Experience in assessing and treating a range of speech and language disorders in pediatric and/or adult populations, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong clinical documentation, case management, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and outcome tracking.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Explicit and empathetic communication skills, with the ability to counsel and educate patients and caregivers from diverse backgrounds.
- Comfort with using basic healthcare technology and electronic medical records; willingness to learn new systems and tools.
- Commitment to continuous learning, participation in training programs, and contribution to academic and clinical activities of the institute.
