Role Description The Shift Engineer role is a full-time hybrid position based in Siliguri, with some flexibility for work-from-home tasks as business needs allow. This role is responsible for overseeing plant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and optimizing machinery performance, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issues to minimize downtime.

The Shift

Engineer collaborates closely with production, quality, and safety teams to implement standard operating procedures, maintain accurate shift logs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.



The role may also involve supervising shift technicians, training team members on equipment use, and supporting audits related to safety, environment, and quality.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess solid technical skills in production and plant engineering, including equipment monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and coordination with maintenance teams.
- Candidates should possess skills in quality and safety practices, such as adherence to SOPs, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and workplace health and safety standards.
- Candidates should possess skills in documentation and reporting, including maintaining shift logs, preparing incident or downtime reports, and communicating clearly with cross-functional teams.
- Candidates should possess organizational and problem-solving skills, including time management, root-cause analysis, and the ability to prioritize tasks during high-demand periods.
- Candidates should possess interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to work in diverse teams, coordinate with supervisors and operators, and support training of junior staff.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or related engineering discipline is preferred.
- Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or process industry environments, especially in hair care, personal care, or nutraceuticals, is an advantage.
- Willingness to work in shifts in Siliguri, with openness to a hybrid work model, and commitment to Velnik’s values of sustainability and inclusive growth
