Senior Staff Engineer – Java, Event-Driven Architecture

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to lead the evolution of our next-generation, event-driven platform powering mission-critical business applications at global scale. You will define the architecture for highly available, low-latency distributed systems built on Java and modern cloud-native technologies.

Working across multiple engineering teams, you will drive technical strategy, establish architectural standards, and enable scalable, resilient, and observable systems capable of processing millions of events daily.

Your work will influence platform reliability, developer productivity, and business agility while shaping the organization's long-term engineering direction.

What You'll Do

- Define and drive the multi-year technical roadmap for distributed, event-driven platforms, balancing scalability, reliability, performance, and business priorities.
- Architect and build highly scalable microservices using Java and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Design and implement event-driven architectures leveraging messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or cloud-native messaging services.
- Lead the design of high-throughput, low-latency systems capable of processing millions of transactions and events per day.
- Establish architectural standards for asynchronous communication, event sourcing, CQRS, and distributed workflows where appropriate.
- Design fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable systems with strong observability, resilience, and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Optimize system performance, latency, throughput, and infrastructure costs across cloud-native environments.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, platform teams, and engineering leaders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead critical platform initiatives from concept to production,



resolving complex technical challenges and improving system reliability.
- Drive modernization initiatives including legacy migration, cloud adoption, and platform engineering.
- Champion engineering excellence through clean architecture, code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while influencing architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams.

Technical Skills

- Expert-level proficiency in Java with deep knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, JVM internals, and performance tuning.
- Extensive experience with Spring Boot , Spring Cloud, and enterprise Java ecosystems.
- Strong expertise in Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka , RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or cloud messaging platforms.




- Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency, partitioning, replication, fault tolerance, and scalability.
- Experience designing microservices architectures using REST and event-based communication.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native deployment models.
- Familiarity with distributed databases, caching technologies, and NoSQL systems.
- Experience with observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Jaeger, or OpenTelemetry.
- Strong advocate for software engineering best practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, code reviews, and secure software development.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience implementing Event Sourcing and CQRS architectures.
- Knowledge of stream processing technologies such as Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, or Spark Streaming.
- Experience building platform services used across multiple engineering teams.
- Exposure to domain-driven design (DDD) and API-first development.
- Experience modernizing monolithic applications into cloud-native microservices.
- Understanding of security, compliance, and governance in enterprise environments.
