The role provides support for the provision, availability and performance of DB2 databases within DB2 subsystems.
The incumbent must have an extensive knowledge of DB2 database usage, including
design, tuning, backup & recovery processes and system architecture and design. This
includes the ability to provide expert technical problem diagnosis and resolution.
The role requires liaison with other technical support areas including PSSC (Production
Services Support Centre) to provide effective service to customers. There is a further
requirement to provide 24X7 on call support on a rostered basis to support production
applications using DB2 databases.
Major Responsibilities




Customer & Service
• Effective liaison across all TIS teams and application development teams to support
and deliver solutions and services using DB2 databases.
• Effectively communicate to mainframe customers and IT staff on effective use of DB2
databases including remote access via ODBC.
• Ensure high level of stability and usability is maintained and enhanced
Technology/Solutions
• Mainframe performance and tuning consultation to ensure effective use of DB2
databases in DB2 subsystems.
• Responsible for day-to-day functions relating to resolution of performance issues,
availability and throughput in environments using DB2 databases.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
• High level of skill in DB2 database administration including availability, capacity
planning, performance tuning, recovery security and data integrity.
• Knowledge of remote access capability of DB2
