JD Setter | Cold Forging

Position: Setter
Department: Manufacturing

Qualification
ITI – Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Tool & Die Maker or equivalent
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Certification in machine maintenance/tooling is an added advantage.

Experience
3–8 years of experience in cold forging fastener manufacturing
Hands-on experience in setting Nut Formers / Bolt Formers
Experience with multi-station cold forging machines
Automotive fastener manufacturing exposure preferred.

Job Purpose

Responsible for complete machine setup, tooling changeover and process optimization on cold forging machines for nut and bolt manufacturing, ensuring quality, productivity, minimum downtime and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Tooling
Setup and changeover of cold forging machines
Install, align and adjust dies, punches, tooling and cut-off knives
Ensure correct machine settings
Coordinate with Quality for first-piece approval

Production
Achieve production targets with minimum rejection




Monitor machine performance and adjust processes
Troubleshoot tooling/machine issues
Support operators for secure production.

Quality
Ensure products meet drawing and customer specifications
Use Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Thread Gauges, Plug Gauges and Ring Gauges
Reduce rejection and improve process capability
Maintain process parameters and quality records.

Maintenance & Safety
Routine machine inspection and basic preventive maintenance
Identify abnormal conditions and coordinate with Maintenance
Ensure lubrication and housekeeping
Follow PPE, safety, 5S, quality and manufacturing standards.

Required Technical Skills
Cold forging process – nut & bolt manufacturing
Multi-station cold forging machine setting
Dies, punches, tooling and machine alignment
Fastener raw materials
Engineering drawing and process sheet interpretation
Measuring instruments and quality inspection
Basic TPM, Lea
