Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Indian Chef – Pure Vegetarian to prepare authentic and high-quality vegetarian dishes. The ideal candidate should have 2–4 years of experience in pure vegetarian restaurants, hotels, resorts, or catering operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide variety of pure vegetarian Indian cuisine including North Indian, South Indian, Gujarati, Rajasthani, and Maharashtrian dishes as required.
- Maintain consistent taste, quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Prepare gravies, curries, breads, rice, snacks, starters, and vegetarian specialities.
- Follow standardized recipes and maintain food quality standards.
- Assist in menu planning and development of new vegetarian dishes.
- Supervise Commis Chefs and kitchen helpers and allocate daily work.
- Ensure timely preparation and service during regular operations and peak hours.
- Monitor freshness and quality of vegetables, spices, dairy products, and other ingredients.
- Maintain proper food storage and inventory levels.
- Control food costs and minimize food wastage through proper planning and portion control.
- Ensure strict hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards in the kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment.
- Handle special dietary requirements and customized vegetarian orders when required.
Requirements
- Education: Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hotel Management, or Catering is preferred. Relevant professional cooking experience will also be considered.
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience as an Indian Chef / Vegetarian Chef in a pure vegetarian restaurant, hotel, resort, or catering company.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine.
- Experience in bulk cooking is an advantage.
- Knowledge of FSSAI/HACCP and food safety standards preferred.
- Good team-management and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced kitchen environment.
