The Household Helper is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day running of the household.

The helper is expected to work reliably, honestly, respectfully and independently, while following reasonable instructions given by the elders or designated family members.

The objective is to keep the household clean, organized, comfortable and properly managed.

2. Main ResponsibilitiesA. Cooking & Food Preparation
- Prepare regular household meals as instructed.
- Wash, cut and prepare vegetables and other ingredients.
- Prepare tea, breakfast, lunch or dinner as required.
- Keep the kitchen and cooking area clean after preparation.
- Follow reasonable food preferences or instructions given by the elders.
- Store leftover food properly.

B. Cleaning & Dishes
- Wash dishes, utensils, glasses and kitchen items.
- Clean kitchen counters and cooking areas.
- Sweep and mop household floors.
- Clean bathrooms and other commonly used areas as required.
- Dust and maintain basic household cleanliness.
- Perform additional reasonable cleaning tasks when requested by the elders.

Laundry
- Collect household clothes for washing.
- Wash clothes according to household instructions.
- Dry, fold and organize laundry.
- Handle delicate clothing appropriately.
- Assist with ironing where practical and agreed.

D. Grocery & Household Assistance
- Check basic household grocery requirements.
- Prepare a grocery list when supplies are running low.
- Purchase nearby groceries when requested and practical.
- Receive and organize groceries.
- Inform the elders when key household supplies are running low.

3. Elders' Instructions / Work Orders

A key part of this position is responding to reasonable household instructions from the elders.

For example, if an elder says:

"Please wash the dishes."

The helper should treat this as a work instruction and complete it.

Similarly, an elder may request:
- "Please prepare the food."
- "Please do the laundry."
- "Please clean the kitchen."
