Drafts Man :-
In the fenestration industry, a Draftsman (or Draughtsman) is responsible for converting architectural
concepts and site measurements into accurate technical blueprints for windows, doors, and facade systems.
This role is a vital link between the design team and the manufacturing floor, ensuring that every
component is fabricated to exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Drawing Preparation: Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings, including shop drawings, fabrication
drawings, and "as-built" drawings.
- Material Take-offs: Develop accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and Material Take-offs (MTO) to
support procurement and cost estimation.
- Site Coordination: Visit project sites to take accurate measurements and validate design feasibility
against actual site conditions.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure all drafts comply with building codes, safety regulations, and
industry standards for wind loads and thermal performance.
- Revision Management: Modify and update drawings based on feedback from architects,
consultants, or changes in project scope.
Core Skills & Qualifications
- Software Proficiency: Expert use of AutoCAD (2D & 3D) is mandatory..
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of aluminium or uPVC profile systems, glazing types
(DGU/TGU), and hardware assembly.
- Education: Usually requires an ITI Draughtsman certification, a Diploma in Mechanical/Civil
Engineering, or a degree in Architecture.
