Key Duties
- Read Blueprints: Interpret marine engineering plans, isometric drawings, and weld symbols.
- Cut and Shape: Measure, mark, cut, and bevel steel plates, pipes, and beams using plasma cutters and saws.
- Fit and Assemble: Align ship frames, decks, bulkheads, brackets, and equipment foundations before final welding.
- Tack Weld: Perform temporary tack welds to secure parts in correct alignment.
- Repair: Fix or replace damaged steel sections during dry dock or afloat maintenance.
Requirements and Skills
- Experience: Proven background in heavy steel or marine structural fabrication.
- Technical Knowledge: Robust grasp of shipyard safety, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Safety Rules: Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols in confined spaces.
