, a B2B trade publication covering the HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant & Catering) industry, is looking for an experienced Freelance Business Journalist to join our editorial coverage on an assignment basis.

Role:
Freelance Business Journalist (English)

Engagement:
Freelance / Assignment-based

Location:
Chennai, Tamil Nadu (with regular travel across Tamil Nadu and South India)

Travel:
This role requires extensive and frequent travel for on-ground reporting — trade events, exhibitions, hotel/restaurant industry meets, association gatherings, and source interviews. Candidates must be willing and able to travel regularly, including at short notice. Preferably a Male candidate.

What we're looking for:
- Minimum
2 years
of hands-on
journalism
experience — reporting, interviewing, and filing original news stories for a publication, wire service, or newsroom
- Robust command of written and spoken English
- Ability to independently source, verify, and write business/trade news under deadline




- Interest in or familiarity with the food service, hospitality, or HoReCa sector is a plus
- Comfortable traveling for event coverage, site visits, and in-person interviews
- Able to manage own schedule and file copy reliably as a freelancer

Please note:
- This is a
journalism
role, not a content-writing or copywriting role. Candidates whose background is limited to content writing, SEO writing, blogging, or marketing copy — without prior newsroom/journalism experience — will not be considered.
- Applicants must have a demonstrable track record of published journalistic work (bylines, clippings, or a portfolio) spanning at least 2 years.

Compensation:
