Key Responsibilities
1.
Strategic
Sourcing &
- Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, select, and develop reliable suppliers for custom and standard components (mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, and optical).
- Conduct technical and commercial assessments of new and existing suppliers, including audits and capability reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure partnership and continuous improvement.
2.
Technical
Procurement:
- Review and analyze engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications from the R&D; team.
- Source highly specialized components, including:
1. oPrecision linear motion systems (guides, ball screws, actuators)
2. oMachine vision systems (cameras, lenses, lighting)
3. oSensors (LVDT, Laser, Vision)
4. oAutomation components (PLCs, servo motors, drives)
5. oFabricated parts (machined frames, enclosures)
6. oComputing hardware and control systems
- Provide technical support to the purchasing team and offer value engineering suggestions to design engineers.
3. Cost Negotiation &
- Budget Management:
- Lead cost negotiations to achieve the best possible price, payment terms, and delivery schedules without compromising quality.
- Perform cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitiveness.
- Work with finance and project management to maintain procurement budgets.
4.
Supply Chain
Coordination &
- Risk Management:
- Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Purchase Orders (POs), and manage order acknowledgements.
- Proactively track orders and manage the supply chain to prevent production delays.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (single-source items, long lead times,
geopolitical factors).
- Implement inventory optimization strategies for critical components.

Quality Assurance
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any incoming quality issues (IQC), rejections, or non-conformances with suppliers.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers.
Qualifications &
- Experience
Essential
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Purchase Engineer, Sourcing Engineer, or a similar role in
a capital equipment, machine building, or precision manufacturing setting.
- Proven experience in sourcing a wide range of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic components.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T;, and engineering specifications.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiation and contract management.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience with vision systems, precision sensors, or motion control components.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Zoho Procurement).
- Familiarity with international sourcing and import/export procedures.
- Understanding of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
