This environment offers professionals the chance to contribute meaningfully to global access to education.
Role Description: The Product Designer (UI/UX) at FutureMBBS will take ownership of designing and improving digital experiences across web and mobile platforms used by prospective medical students.
This is a product-focused role for someone who can take a problem from concept through to release . You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to understand user and business needs, identify opportunities, develop thoughtful solutions, and turn them into intuitive, scalable product experiences.
This is not a role focused only on creating polished screens or executing predefined designs . We are looking for someone who can understand an underlying problem, think independently, explore multiple solutions, make informed design decisions, collaborate closely with developers, and follow the work through to a real product release.
Role:
- Own product design problems from discovery and ideation through design, implementation, and launch.
- Translate user needs and business objectives into intuitive, user-centred product experiences.
- Conduct user research, interviews, surveys, usability testing, and other research activities where appropriate.
- Map user journeys, workflows, and information architecture to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Create wireframes, prototypes,
and high-fidelity UI designs for web and mobile experiences.
- Develop and maintain reusable components and scalable design systems.
- Work closely with developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented as intended.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Validate design decisions through user feedback, usability testing, and product data.
- Iterate on designs based on insights, feedback, and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure consistency across visual design, interaction patterns, accessibility, and overall brand experience.
- Identify opportunities to improve user flows, usability, engagement, and conversion.
- Clearly communicate design rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 3–4 years of hands-on experience in Product Design, UI/UX Design, or a similar role, preferably in software, SaaS, technology, or other product-driven companies.
- Strong Product Design and Design Thinking skills, with the ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured, user-centred solutions.
- Proven experience taking products or features from problem definition through design and into real-world release .
- Strong UX Research and User Research skills, including gathering user insights, conducting interviews or surveys, usability testing, and incorporating feedback into design decisions.
- Strong Visual Design skills, with an understanding of typography, colour, layout, hierarchy, accessibility, and responsive design.
- Strong proficiency in Figma and modern design and prototyping workflows. Experience with tools such as Sketch or Adobe XD is a plus.
- Experience creating and working with component-based design systems , reusable UI components, and scalable design patterns.
- Ability to think beyond individual screens and design solutions that can scale across an entire product .
- Experience working closely with developers and cross-functional teams , with a practical understanding of how designs translate into working software.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to independently evaluate options and make informed design decisions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain and defend design decisions to product, engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to take ownership of design problems rather than simply executing predefined requirements.
- A portfolio demonstrating real-world product design work, shipped features, and end-to-end design processes is required.
- Candidates should be able to discuss the problems they solved, the decisions they made, what was ultimately shipped, and where possible, the impact or results after launch .
- Experience in EdTech or student-facing products is a plus, but not mandatory.
- A Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field is beneficial; equivalent practical experience will also be considered .
What Success Looks Like in this role: You will be successful in this role if you can take an ambiguous product problem, understand the user and business context, independently develop and evaluate solutions, collaborate with engineering to bring the solution to life, and ultimately measure what happened after launch.
We care more about how you think, what you have shipped, and the impact of your work than simply how polished your portfolio looks.
