Job Summary
The SPM Design Engineer is responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of custom-built machines and automation systems that cater to specific industrial or manufacturing needs. This role requires strong technical expertise in mechanical design, an understanding of manufacturing processes, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver effective, reliable, and cost-effective machines.

- Concept and Design Development
- Understand customer requirements, product specifications, and process needs.
- Develop conceptual designs, 3D models, and layouts for special purpose machines.
- Conduct design feasibility studies and mechanism analysis.
- Select suitable motion systems (mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic).
- Ensure designs meet electrical, safety, ergonomic, and functional standards.
- Create 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD tools (SolidWorks / AutoCAD).
- Prepare detailed assembly drawings, part drawings,



and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Perform tolerance analysis and ensure manufacturability of components.
- Document all design-related technical data, calculations, and revisions.
- Coordinate with the production and assembly teams during fabrication, machining, and assembly stages.
- Provide technical support during machine building, testing, and debugging.
- Identify and resolve design issues or assembly mismatches.
- Support suppliers and vendors in understanding technical specifications.
- Testing, Validation, and Commissioning
- Participate in machine trials, functional testing, and performance validation.
- Analyze results, identify improvement areas, and implement design modifications.
- Support commissioning at the client site if required.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Research and implement new technologies, materials, and mechanisms to enhance performance.
