A day in the life of this role
Meritto is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll qualified to manage end-to-end payroll
operations. The role requires hands-on experience with payroll tools, robust statutory compliance knowledge, and deep expertise in TDS, reconciliations, and MIS reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations
Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing with accuracy and adherence to timelines
Process attendance, leave, incentives, reimbursements, deductions, arrears, and F&F; settlements
Ensure accurate salary structures and payouts across employees and consultants
Support payroll closures and coordination with Finance
TDS & Tax Compliance
Compute and deduct TDS on salaries as per Income Tax regulations
Manage quarterly TDS return filings (Form 24Q) with accuracy and timelines
Handle TDS reconciliations with books and TRACES
Ensure timely issuance of Form 16 and resolution of TDS-related discrepancies
Liaise with auditors and consultants for TDS assessments and notices
Payroll Systems & Tools
Manage payroll using Zoho People / Zoho Payroll or similar HRMS tools
Maintain employee payroll master data and system configurations
Coordinate with HR/IT for system improvements and issue resolution
Support payroll audits and system enhancements
Statutory Compliance
Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, Gratuity, etc.
Manage statutory filings, challans, and reconciliations
Coordinate with consultants and authorities during audits or assessments
Stay updated with changes in payroll laws and regulations
MIS & Reporting
Prepare detailed payroll MIS reports, dashboards, and management summaries
Perform payroll, TDS, and statutory reconciliations on a periodic basis
Generate variance analysis and insights for leadership review
Support month-end and year-end payroll reporting and audits
