About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Non-Profit Accountant with hands-on experience in US not-for-profit accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of fund accounting, restricted and unrestricted funds, grant accounting, contribution revenue, General Ledger, financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end close.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day accounting activities for US non-profit organizations and programs.
- Maintain the General Ledger and accounting records for restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Perform fund accounting and ensure appropriate classification of transactions.
- Record and reconcile contributions, donations, grants and other non-profit revenue.
- Track restricted funds and monitor expenditures against donor or program restrictions.
- Prepare Budget vs Actual analysis for programs and departments.
- Perform Bank, Balance Sheet and General Ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and post Journal Entries, Accruals, Prepayments and Reclassifications.
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
- Support Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Close activities.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports and supporting schedules.
- Support grant accounting and grant-related financial reporting where applicable.
- Analyze financial variances and investigate unusual or incorrect transactions.
- Coordinate with program managers, grant teams, donors and internal stakeholders to resolve financial issues.
- Support annual audits and provide the required financial schedules and documentation.




- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, organizational policies, donor restrictions and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and financial reporting.

Key Software QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, Financial Edge NXT, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Excel, Power BI; experience with other non-profit accounting or ERP systems will also be considered.

Qualifications & Skills

- B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance / Accounting or a related field.
- CPA, CMA, CA or relevant accounting qualification preferred.
- 3-8 years of relevant experience in Non-Profit Accounting, Not-for-Profit Accounting, Grant Accounting or US Accounting.
- Hands-on experience supporting US non-profit organizations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of fund accounting and restricted/unrestricted funds.
- Experience with grant accounting, donor contributions and program-level financial reporting preferred.
- Solid understanding of General Ledger, reconciliations and month-end close.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.
- Ability to manage multiple programs, funds and reporting deadlines.
