Role : Merchandiser Assistant

Job Summary

· The Merchandiser Assistant supports the merchandising team in product development, order coordination, sampling, costing, production follow-up, documentation, and delivery tracking. The role ensures smooth coordination between customers, designers, purchase, production, quality, warehouse, and sales teams.

· Key Responsibilities

· Assist the Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser in handling customer orders and product development activities.

· Maintain records of customer requirements, product specifications, purchase orders, and order status.

· Coordinate with Design and Product Development teams for fabric, saree, garment, and textile accessory samples.

· Follow up on sample development, approvals, corrections, and finalization.

· Coordinate with Purchase teams for timely availability of fabrics, yarns, trims, accessories, and other materials.

· Assist in preparing cost sheets, quotations, price comparisons, and margin calculations.

· Maintain product details such as fabric type, color, shade, GSM, width, design, measurements, embroidery, printing, and finishing requirements.

· Follow up with suppliers and production teams regarding order progress and material availability.

· Monitor production schedules and update the Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser on delays or issues.

· Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure products meet approved samples and specifications.

· Track sample approval, production, inspection, packing, dispatch, and delivery status.

· Coordinate with Warehouse regarding raw material and finished-goods availability.

· Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly merchandising and order-status reports.

· Maintain proper documentation of samples, approvals, purchase orders, invoices, delivery details, and correspondence.

· Communicate with internal departments regarding changes in quantity, color, design, delivery dates,



or product specifications.

· Follow up on customer queries and provide timely updates to the concerned Merchandiser.

· Assist in handling customer complaints, returns, quality issues, and order discrepancies.

· Support the team during new collection launches, seasonal collections, exhibitions, and promotional activities.

· Monitor market and competitor trends and share relevant information with the merchandising team.

· Ensure all merchandising activities are completed within agreed timelines.

· Assist with development of silk, cotton, linen, rayon, blended, printed, embroidered, and other textile products.

· Coordinate fabric and product sampling with suppliers and production units.

· Check sample details against approved specifications.

· Maintain records of shade, lot, GSM, fabric width, composition, design, and finishing.

· Follow up on weaving, dyeing, printing, embroidery, embellishment, and finishing requirements, where applicable.

· Coordinate with the Quality Team on fabric and finished-product inspection.

· Support the development of wedding, bridal, festive, seasonal, and new-arrival collections.

Requirement

· Experience in textile, garment, fashion, or retail merchandising is preferred.

· Basic knowledge of textile fabrics, product development, sourcing, and production processes.

· Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, email, and ERP systems.

· Solid follow-up and coordination skills.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong attention to detail and documentation.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Willingness to learn and work closely with cross-functional teams.
