Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Design &
- CAD
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks / AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
- Interpret engineering requirements, specifications and customer requirements and convert them into practical designs.
- Design mechanical components, structures, brackets, containers, enclosures, fixtures and assemblies.
- Perform design modifications based on manufacturing feasibility, testing feedback and end-user requirements.
- Ensure designs meet functional, dimensional, structural and manufacturability requirements.
- Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications and other technical documentation.
- Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
1. Project Planning &
- Execution
- Plan, coordinate and monitor engineering projects from concept/design stage through manufacturing, testing and final delivery.
- Prepare project schedules, track milestones and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
- Coordinate with design, production, procurement, quality and project teams for smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and identify technical or execution-related risks.
- Support preparation of project proposals, technical documentation and commercial inputs.
- Coordinate with customers/clients and internal teams regarding project requirements and deliverables.
1. Manufacturing &
- Production Support
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and production-ready.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, machining, assembly and integration activities.
- Resolve design and manufacturing issues through engineering modifications and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper implementation of drawings, specifications and engineering standards during production.
- Support prototype development and product improvement activities.
1. Testing, Installation &
- Commissioning
- Participate in system integration, testing and validation activities.
- Prepare/support preparation of test plans, SOPs and technical documentation.
- Coordinate installation and commissioning activities at customer/project locations when required.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and system-level issues during testing and commissioning.
- Analyse test results and recommend necessary design or process improvements.
1. Quality &
- Documentation
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable quality standards and project specifications.
- Support inspection, testing and documentation activities.
- Coordinate with quality teams for inspection and resolution of non-conformities.
- Maintain project documentation, drawings, BOMs, test reports and engineering records.
- Ensure proper revision control of drawings and technical documents.
1. Vendor &
- Customer Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors for engineering requirements, procurement and technical clarifications.
- Evaluate vendor technical capabilities and support vendor development activities.
- Interact with customers/clients to understand technical requirements and project expectations.
- Support preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of 3D modelling, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
- Understanding of fabrication, machining, welding and mechanical assembly processes.
- Knowledge of BOM preparation and engineering documentation.
- Experience in prototype development and product improvement.
- Understanding of testing, inspection and quality processes.
- Exposure to project planning, execution and coordination.
- Good understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
