Job Summary

The Team lead for mechanical and mechatronic design for in-house E/E/C is responsible for leading the mechanical design and industrialization of the electrical and electronic components across all stages of the product development lifecycle (from initial concept phase to mass production). This position will enable the candidate to work across different components and understand the interfaces between them as well as working in cutting-edge products and designs for leading edge company technologies (EV, advanced materials, etc.). The role will have broad responsibility, innovative capability, high-visibility and recognitions. The candidate will be responsible of:

Responsibilities

- Design and development of mechanical concepts and components which are part of electrical and electronic components such as (but not limited to): battery pack design, electric motor design, charger and other electronic ECUs packaging and housing design, interfaces and fixation mechanisms of EV components.
- Design and development of chemical and thermal concepts to improve performance of EE components: thermal management systems, thermal interfaces, adhesives and joint mechanisms, etc.
- Managing the mechanical development team and ensuring adherence to company's standards and guidelines as well as reviewing the designs and drawings as per company and international standards (GD&T;, surface treatments, etc.).
- Ensure industrialization of the designs by reviewing and implementing manufacturing best practices and DFM and DFA requirements.
- Create E/E/C mechanical design standards and re-usability of proven design concepts for first-time-right designs and faster time-to-market.
- Developing a capable and high performing team with technical expertise and winning cultures and enhance team competences for advanced technologies and designs.



Challenging state-of-the-art designs, manufacturing methods and assembly methods.
- Furthermore he will have strong leadership skills for resolving business and technical issues. He will focus on objectives/deliverables and will drive for results. He will foster creativity and develop innovative technologies all components, especially in battery, electric motor drives, power electronic housings and thermal concepts. He will manage simulation based structural analysis and moldflow simulation for tooling feasibility.
- Accountability: Mechanical and mechatronic design and development supervision for E/E/C components.
- Lead, standardize and innovate in mechanical designs accross the departement components.
- Lead the design, industrialization and validation of mechanical designs at concept, tooling and mass production stages.
- Supervise and manage the team responsible to design and develop mechanical and mechatronic components.
- Accountability: Team upskilling and competency development
- Enhance team competences and identify competency gaps.
- Stay tuned with state-of-the-art materials and process and create designs and materials database.
- Define and create a training program for the team to fill the competency gaps.
- Accountability: Mechanical design components validation
- Support the validation engineers and validation teams for the creation of the DVP for the designed components.
- Accountability: Support process and production engineering teams




- Supervise and support the tooling manufacturing and part development for proto stages and mass production.
- Accountability: ECN and field support for designed components
- Perform RCA analysis during development and mass production stages when failures occur related to mechanical, thermal or interfaces design.
- Accountability: Optimize designs for cost reduction.
- Accountability: Components prototyping and validation
- Support prototyping teams for existing and concept designs.
- Create manufacturing and assembly guidelines for the components developed.

Functional Competency

- Profficiency in mechanical designs, material properties, 3D and 2D designs and GD&T.;
- Expertise and hands-on with CAD, CAE and PLM tools as well as R&D; development processes and deliverables (DFM, DFA, DFMEA, PFMEA, simulation reports, etc.)
- Sound knowledge in part manufacturing and assembly methods and their corresponding requirements and limitations.
- Ability to deal effectively with and lead within a fast-paced, dynamic and change-oriented environment. Capability to work under pressure and be flexible.

- Deep knowledge in mechanical interfaces, sealings, tolerances, surface finishing, thermal interfaces and material compatibility.
- Experience on part manufacturing methodologies and cost optimization (VAVE).
- Excellent leadership skills with experience in building and managing design engineering teams which may be in multiple locations.

- Experience in performing and analyzing tests related to mechanical, thermal and endurance validation.
