Depending on the setting ( NGO) an MSW professional may handle the following:
1. Client Support & Case Management
Assess clients social, emotional, and financial needs. Develop and implement individualized care or support plans.
Connect clients to community resources, welfare schemes, or rehabilitation programs.
Provide counseling and crisis intervention to individuals, families, or groups.
1. Advocacy & Social Welfare
Work with government or non-governmental agencies to support vulnerable populations. Conduct community outreach and awareness programs.
1. Research & Program Development
Design and evaluate social welfare programs or interventions. Collect data, prepare reports, and assist in policy development.
Collaborate with other professionals (psychologists, doctors, teachers, etc.) to ensure holistic care.
1. Administrative & Training Duties
Maintain case records and documentation.
Prepare progress reports and maintain confidentiality.
Conduct training sessions, workshops, or community education programs.
Qualifications & Skills Required
Educational Qualifications
Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a recognized university.
Professional Skills
Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
Counselling and crisis management ability.
Knowledge of social welfare laws and government schemes.
Empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence.
Report writing and documentation skills.
Ability to work with diverse populations and under pressure.
Preferred (Optional)
Experience in NGOs, hospitals, schools, or community organizations.
Familiarity with case management software or data reporting tools.
Basic knowledge of psychology and mental health.
