The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.

- The role provides support for the provision, availability and performance of DB2 databases within DB2 subsystems.

- The incumbent must have an extensive knowledge of DB2 database usage, including
- design, tuning, backup & recovery processes and system architecture and design. This
- includes the ability to provide expert technical problem diagnosis and resolution.

- The role requires liaison with other technical support areas including PSSC (Production

- Services Support Centre) to provide effective service to customers. There is a further
- requirement to provide 24X7 on call support on a rostered basis to support production
- applications using DB2 databases.

- Major Responsibilities

- Customer & Service

- • Effective liaison across all TIS teams and application development teams to support
- and deliver solutions and services using DB2 databases.

- • Effectively communicate to mainframe customers and IT staff on effective use of DB2

- databases including remote access via ODBC.





- • Ensure high level of stability and usability is maintained and enhanced

- Technology/Solutions

- • Mainframe performance and tuning consultation to ensure efficient use of DB2

- databases in DB2 subsystems.

- • Responsible for day-to-day functions relating to resolution of performance issues,

- availability and throughput in environments using DB2 databases.

- Qualifications

- Essential Skills

- • High level of skill in DB2 database administration including availability, capacity
- planning, performance tuning, recovery security and data integrity.

- • Knowledge of remote access capability of DB2

- • A solid understanding of IBM’s z/OS operating system.

- • Experience with IBM & BMC DB2 database utilities.

- • Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and build good
- working relationships with customers, peers, staff, vendors.

- • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- • Strong oral & written communication skills, enabling easy interaction at many levels
- within the organization.

- Desired Skills

- • Exposure to CDC usage with IMS and DB2.itor database performance to ensure high levels of security and speed

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field of study

- Proven knowledge of SQL Servers

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
