Company Description The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organization under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. Headquartered in New Delhi, ICAR is the apex body for coordinating, guiding, and managing agricultural research and education across horticulture, fisheries, and animal sciences nationwide.

With 101 institutes and 71 agricultural universities, it operates one of the largest agricultural research and education systems in the world. ICAR has been central to India’s Green Revolution and subsequent advances, significantly increasing production of foodgrains, horticultural crops, fish, milk, and eggs, thereby strengthening national food and nutritional security. Its scientists work in cutting-edge areas of science and technology and are internationally recognized for their contributions.

Role Description The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at ICAR will support ongoing research projects by conducting field and laboratory experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining accurate research records. Daily responsibilities include literature review, assisting in experimental design, preparing samples, using relevant analytical tools, and contributing to technical reports and research publications.

The JRF will collaborate with senior scientists and project staff, participate in project review meetings, and help ensure compliance with institutional research protocols. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru,



requiring regular presence at the designated ICAR research facility and associated field locations.

- Essential: B. Sc organic chemistry, NET Qualified, Agriculture,
- Desirable M. Sc. Agricultural Chemicals,
- Candidates should possess robust research skills, including literature review, experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Candidates should possess practical skills in laboratory and/or field work, including sample preparation, use of analytical instruments, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Candidates should possess scientific writing and communication skills for preparing reports, manuscripts, presentations, and project documentation.
- Candidates should possess collaboration and organizational skills, including teamwork, time management, and the ability to handle multiple project tasks responsibly.
- A postgraduate degree (e.g., M.Sc./M.Tech) in Agriculture, Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with agricultural systems, crop production, plant or animal science, or resource management will be beneficial.
- Experience with research software or tools (such as statistical packages, data management software, or GIS tools) will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated interest in agricultural research and willingness to work in field conditions in and around Bengaluru will be beneficial.
