Job Description:
Sets up and operates a shaper machine to mill, plane, shape, groove, or profile metal or plastic workpieces.
Responsibilities:
Selects and installs appropriate cutting tools.
Secures the workpiece in the machine.
Adjusts machine settings like speed, feed rate, and depth of cut.
Monitors the machining process and ensures quality.
Performs routine maintenance on the machine.
Maintains a protected working workplace.
May keep records of work orders and production data.
Skills:
Understanding of machining principles, ability to read technical drawings, knowledge of cutting tools and materials, and familiarity with feeds and speeds.
