HVAC Project Manager –
Position
HVAC Project Manager – Chilled Water Systems
Job Summary
Responsible for planning, managing, and executing HVAC projects from design coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, and handover. The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of chilled water HVAC systems, including chillers, chilled water pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, FCUs, CHW piping, valves, insulation, controls/BMS, and testing & commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
Plan and execute HVAC projects as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, and project schedule. Prepare project execution plans, manpower requirements, material schedules, and work programs.
Coordinate with client, consultant, main contractor, architects, MEP consultants, and other services.
Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion within budget.
1. Chilled Water System – Technical Knowledge
The candidate should have good working knowledge of: Water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.
Chilled Water Pumps and Condenser Water Pumps.
Cooling Towers.
AHUs, FCUs, FAHUs and ventilation systems.
CHW supply and return piping systems.
Primary, secondary and primary-secondary pumping arrangements.
2-way and 3-way control valves.
PICVs, balancing valves, strainers, NRVs, butterfly valves, etc.
Expansion tanks, air separators and pressurization systems.
CHW pipe sizing and pressure-drop calculations.
Pump head and flow calculations.
Chilled water flow balancing.
Pipe insulation and vapour barrier requirements.
Chiller plant room layout and equipment coordination.
BMS controls and HVAC automation.
Differential pressure and temperature measurements.
Testing, commissioning and performance verification of chilled water systems.
1. Drawing & Design Coordination
Review HVAC shop drawings, coordination drawings and design drawings.
Check ducting, piping, equipment layouts and plant room arrangements.
Coordinate HVAC services with electrical, plumbing, firefighting, civil and architectural works.
Review technical submittals and material approvals.
Identify design discrepancies and coordinate with consultants for resolution.
1. Procurement & Material Management
Prepare material requirements based on project schedules. Coordinate with purchase and vendors for timely material delivery.
Review technical specifications and vendor offers.
Ensure materials comply with approved makes and project specifications.
Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
1. Site Management
Supervise HVAC site engineers, supervisors, technicians and subcontractors. Monitor installation quality and productivity.
Ensure HVAC installation is carried out as per approved drawings and specifications.
Conduct regular site inspections and resolve technical issues.
Coordinate daily activities with other MEP trades.
1. Testing & Commissioning
Plan and supervise HVAC testing and commissioning activities. Chilled water flushing, pressure testing and chemical cleaning.
CHW system air removal and filling.
Pump testing and flow verification.
Chilled water balancing.
Chiller start-up and performance testing.
AHU/FCU testing.
TAB – Testing, Adjusting & Balancing.
Verify design flow rates, temperatures, pressures and equipment performance.
Coordinate with BMS team for functional testing and sequence of operation.

Commercial & Project Control
Monitor project costs against approved budgets. Prepare and verify BOQs, RA bills and variation claims.
Track material and labour costs.
Identify variations and additional works.
Coordinate with QS/commercial team for measurements and billing.
Assist in preparing project progress reports.
1. Quality & Safety
Ensure HVAC works comply with project specifications and applicable standards. Conduct inspections and maintain QA/QC documentation.
Ensure method statements and inspection test plans are followed.
Coordinate with HSE team to maintain safe working practices.
Ensure proper safety procedures during lifting, pressure testing, electrical work and commissioning.
Required Qualifications
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
Typically 5–10years of HVAC project experience, preferably with commercial, hospital, data centre, industrial or large residential projects.
Strong experience in chilled water HVAC projects.
Valuable knowledge of AutoCAD and HVAC drawings.
Knowledge of MS Project/Primavera and MS Excel is preferred.
Good communication and client-handling skills.

Experience in large chilled water projects such as hospitals, commercial buildings, malls, hotels, data centres, IT parks and industrial facilities will be an advantage.
Pay: ₹41,666.00 - ₹83,333.00 per month
