Role Description The Farmer Community Manager is a full-time hybrid role based in Bihar, India, with flexibility for some work-from-home tasks. In this position, the individual will build and maintain solid relationships with wetland and Singhara farmers, conduct regular field visits, and act as the primary point of contact between MantraAQ and farmer communities.
The role involves organizing farmer meetings and trainings, sharing best practices on crop cultivation and post-harvest handling, and collecting feedback on products, processes, and support needs.
The Farmer Community
Manager will coordinate with internal teams on procurement planning, quality standards, and logistics, ensuring timely communication and problem-solving for farmers. The role also includes documenting field activities,
maintaining accurate records, supporting impact measurement, and contributing to initiatives that strengthen farmer livelihoods and sustainable wetland ecosystems.
Qualifications
- Experience in community engagement, rural development, or farmer outreach, with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of agriculture, aquaculture, or related fields, preferably with exposure to wetland farming or traditional crop systems such as Singhara.
- Strong communication skills in English and relevant local languages (e.g., Hindi and regional languages of Bihar), including the ability to facilitate group discussions and trainings.
- Organizational and documentation skills for planning field visits, maintaining records, and reporting insights to internal teams.
- Ability to work in a hybrid setup, including regular travel to wetland and farming sites in Bihar, and to collaborate effectively with remote and on-ground team members.
- Basic understanding of sustainable value chains, social impact, or livelihoods programs is an advantage.
- Comfort with using mobile and digital tools for data collection, messaging, and coordination with farmers and colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, rural management, social work, environmental science, or a related discipline is preferred; relevant experience in fieldwork can be considered in lieu of formal education.
