Facility Technician (Role Overview)
Responsible for ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted operation of plant utilities and facility infrastructure through preventive and corrective maintenance, timely troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and effective monitoring of utility systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Utility & Facility Maintenance
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of plant utilities.
- Monitor and maintain compressors, DG sets, electrical panels, transformers, water pumps, plumbing systems, HVAC, cooling towers, and lighting systems.
- Maintain factory buildings, offices, utility rooms, roofing, drainage, plumbing, and civil infrastructure.
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
- Carry out maintenance of lifts, pumps, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Attend to HVAC, plumbing, and structural repairs.
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of plant and facility equipment, including pumps, motors, transformers, generators, and compressors.
- Perform routine checks of oil, coolant, and fuel levels.
- Conduct load bank tests and monitor UPS systems.
- Identify the root cause of electrical, mechanical, and structural failures.
- Respond promptly to equipment and facility breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Ensure maintenance requests are completed within agreed timelines.
3. Electrical & Power Systems
- Maintain factory electrical systems, distribution boards, cables, lighting, and power supply infrastructure.
- Set up, maintain, and repair diesel generators and related switchgear.
- Troubleshoot electrical panels, wiring, and UPS systems.
- Raise purchase requisitions in advance for required maintenance materials and spares.
4. Utility Monitoring & Energy Management
- Monitor electricity, diesel, water, and compressed air consumption.
- Monitor and manage utility systems such as lifts, HVAC, water treatment, compressed air, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Identify and implement energy-saving opportunities.
- Maintain utility logs, maintenance records, checklists, and energy consumption reports.
5. Vendor & Spare Management
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with vendors whenever required.
- Supervise external service providers for utility and facility maintenance work.
- Maintain inventory of utility-related spares and consumables.
Qualifications ITI in Electrician, Machinist, or Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance, or a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in facility or utility maintenance.
- Previous experience as an apprentice under a licensed electrician, plumber, or HVAC technician is a strong advantage.
Key Competencies
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical, generator, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and facility-related issues effectively.
- Ability to respond quickly to unexpected equipment or facility malfunctions.
- PWD Electrical/Wireman license is desirable.
Location Facility Technician is based in Navi Mumbai.
