EHS OFFICER

(Environment, Health & Safety)

The EHS Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving Workplace, Health and Safety practices across the University, including academic, administrative, clinical and hospital facilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement and monitor EHS systems, procedures and safety programmes across the campus and hospital.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements relating to occupational health, environmental protection, fire and life safety, waste management and workplace safety.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, audits and hazard identification exercises.
- Coordinate fire safety, emergency preparedness, disaster management and evacuation drills.
- Monitor biomedical waste, hazardous waste, chemical safety and other environmental management practices in coordination with concerned departments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
- Conduct EHS awareness programmes, training and safety drills for faculty, staff, students and other personnel.
- Maintain EHS documentation, records, reports, registers and compliance records.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities, external agencies, safety consultants and other stakeholders as required.




- Monitor implementation of corrective actions arising from inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Promote a strong culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the institution.

Qualification & Experience

- Bachelors degree in Engineering / Science / Environmental Science / Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline.
- Professional qualification/certification in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Management or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Relevant experience in EHS, preferably in a hospital, healthcare, educational institution, manufacturing or large institutional environment.
- Candidates with experience in statutory compliance, fire safety, biomedical waste management, risk assessment and emergency preparedness will be preferred.

- Strong knowledge of EHS principles and applicable statutory requirements.
- Good communication, coordination and documentation skills.
- Ability to conduct inspections, risk assessments, training programmes and safety audits.
- Strong problem-solving and incident-investigation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clinical, academic, administrative and support teams.
