: Position Purpose To lead the geological function of the Group's operational graphite mine at Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh — owning ore body knowledge, grade control, resource and reserve estimation, statutory geological compliance and exploration of the surrounding lease area, so that the mine consistently delivers planned tonnage and graphite grade (fixed carbon) to the beneficiation plant.
Key Responsibilities
A. Exploration & Resource Development
Plan and execute exploration programmes — geological mapping, pitting, trenching, core and RC drilling — across the graphite lease and adjoining prospects.
Supervise core logging, sampling,
sample preparation and despatch; maintain chain of custody and QA/QC protocols for fixed carbon, ash and volatile matter assays.
Build and update 3D geological models, ore body interpretations and block models; carry out resource and reserve estimation in line with UNFC and MEMC Rules.
Identify and evaluate greenfield / brownfield graphite prospects in the North-East and support due diligence on current lease applications.
B. Mine Geology & Grade Control
Own day-to-day grade control — bench mapping, blast hole sampling, ore-waste demarcation and dilution control to meet plant feed grade targets.
Reconcile geological model against actual production; investigate and correct variances in tonnage and fixed carbon.
Work with mine planning to prepare short, medium and long-term production plans and ore blending schedules.
Guide drilling and blasting inputs from a geological standpoint, including geotechnical and hydrogeological considerations for slope and pit stability.
C. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with the MMDR Act, MCR and MCDR, and directives of IBM, DGMS, State Directorate of Geology & Mining and the Arunachal Pradesh authorities.
Prepare, review and obtain approval of the Mining Plan, Mine Closure Plan, Scheme of Mining and annual returns; handle IBM and DGMS inspections.
Coordinate on environmental clearance, forest clearance and consent-to-operate conditions applicable to the mining lease.
Maintain all statutory geological records, plans, sections and registers in prescribed formats.
D. Leadership, Cost & Stakeholder Management
Lead and develop a team of geologists, surveyors and samplers; build technical capability and a strong safety culture at site.
Prepare and control the exploration and geology budget; manage drilling contractors, laboratories and consultants.
Deploy modern tools — Surpac / Datamine / MineSched, GIS, remote sensing, DGPS and drone survey — for mapping, volumetrics and reporting.
Interface with corporate management, plant, marketing and CSR / community teams, and with local stakeholders in and around Ziro.
