Senior Manager / Deputy General Manager Accounts & Taxation

Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer / Chief Operating Officer / Chief Finance Officer
Functional Exposure: Direct reporting to the Chairman & CEO through the Group MIS
Team Size: 8–9 members across Corporate Office and Plant
Location: Corporate Office, South City Business Park, Anandpur, Kolkata – 700107
Travel: Fortnightly visit to the manufacturing plant at Durgapur (mandatory)
CTC: 12,00,000 – 14,00,000 per annum
Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost & Management Accountant (CMA) – mandatory
Experience: 7–12 years of post-qualification experience
Working Days: Monday to Saturday; 2nd and 4th Saturdays are Work From Home

Role Overview The role is being created to place a single qualified professional in ownership of the Group’s financial numbers and tax position. The successful candidate will own Group consolidation, banking compliance, direct and indirect taxation, plant costing and Group MIS, with accountability for the accuracy and timeliness of information submitted to the Board, banks and tax authorities.
Key Responsibilities / Key Result Areas
1. Group Consolidation & Financial Reporting
- Prepare consolidated Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements across all five entities by Day 10 of every month.
- Perform inter-company elimination and maintain a complete related-party transaction schedule.
- Ensure consolidated figures are traceable to source ledgers and that the balance sheet agrees with supporting schedules for receivables, payables, inventory, fixed assets and loans.
- Ensure depreciation, amortisation, interest and tax are correctly reflected in reported results.
- Maintain entity-wise and business-wise contribution analysis covering revenue, gross margin, contribution and net result.
- Own annual finalisation of accounts for every Group entity.
2. Taxation – Direct & Indirect
- Own GST compliance across all entities, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C and monthly GSTR-2B reconciliation.
- Manage input tax credit eligibility, reversals under Rule 42/43, blocked credits and recovery of credits affected by supplier non-compliance.
- Handle GST on imports and exports, refund claims on zero-rated supplies, LUT, e-way bills and e-invoicing.
- Represent the Group in GST audits, departmental notices, scrutiny and hearings.
- Own TDS and TCS compliance, including computation, deposits, quarterly returns, Form 16/16A and correction statements.
- Ensure correct application of applicable provisions including Sections 194C, 194Q, 194J, 194I, 194H and 206C(1H).
- Manage Section 195 withholding on foreign remittances, including treaty benefit analysis and Form 15CA/15CB certification.
- Monitor and resolve TRACES defaults, short deductions and late-payment demands.
- Handle income tax computation, advance tax, return filing and tax audit under Section 44AB.
- Manage deferred tax, scrutiny assessments, CIT(A)/ITAT appeals and rectification proceedings, with external counsel where required.
- Maintain contingent liability and tax litigation registers with quantified exposure.
- Own transfer pricing documentation, Form 3CEB and benchmarking for inter-company and related-party transactions.
- Maintain a consolidated Group tax position covering effective tax rate, carried-forward losses, MAT credit and tax planning opportunities.
- Maintain a rolling statutory compliance calendar covering all entities and due dates.
3. Banking, Treasury & Working Capital
- Own monthly Drawing Power computation and stock and book-debt statements submitted to lending banks.
- Monitor sanctioned limits against actual utilisation across accounts and entities, ensuring zero drawings beyond sanctioned limits.
- Maintain Letter of Credit and Bank Guarantee registers, including buyer’s credit and import financing.
- Track foreign exchange exposure across import payables and export receivables and operate the Group’s hedging framework.
- Prepare and maintain a rolling 13-week Group cash flow forecast.
4. Listed Company Compliance – QVC Exports Limited
- Prepare quarterly financial results and coordinate limited review with statutory auditors.
- Ensure compliance with SEBI (LODR) Regulations and applicable Ind AS.
- Prepare related-party transaction disclosures and coordinate approvals under Section 188 of the Companies Act.
- Prepare finance and taxation sections of Audit Committee and Board papers in coordination with the Company Secretary.
5. Plant Cost Accounting – Karthik Alloys, Durgapur
- Establish and publish cost per metric tonne for each product covering raw material, power, conversion, fixed overhead and total cost.
- Track power cost per MT, yield, recovery and raw material consumption against standard norms.
- Publish monthly cost variance reports comparing actuals against standards and prior periods.
- Own inventory valuation for raw material, work-in-progress, finished goods and stores.
- Own cost audit and cost records wherever applicable.
6. Group MIS
- Own the Group MIS end-to-end on a weekly and monthly basis as the authoritative financial reporting pack for the CEO.
- Cover entity-wise revenue and profitability against Business Plan, cash and bank position, working capital and limit utilisation, debtor/creditor ageing, inventory, plant cost and production performance, statutory dues, tax position and variance commentary.
- Ensure every MIS figure is traceable to source and reconciles with the books, with no unexplained variances or broken references.
7. Audit & Internal Controls
- Manage statutory audit, internal audit, tax audit and cost audit across all entities.
- Close audit observations with dated evidence and named owners.
- Maintain delegation of authority, payment approval matrix, vendor/customer master governance and monthly reconciliation calendar.
- Enforce segregation of duties in SAP so vendor creation, invoice approval and payment release are not available to the same user.
8. Team Leadership
- Lead a team of 8–9 members across the Corporate Office and Durgapur plant.
- Set individual deliverables, deadlines and evidence standards and conduct structured monthly performance reviews.
- Build succession depth so that critical reconciliations,
returns and bank submissions do not depend on a single individual.
First 180 Days – Expected Outcomes

Day 30: Complete mapping of all five entities covering chart of accounts, banking facilities and limits, statutory/tax compliance calendar, reconciliation status, open tax litigation and team capability.
Day 60: First consolidated Group P&L;, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow delivered by Day 10 of the month with full annexure agreement; GSTR-2B reconciliation current for all entities.
Day 90: Drawing Power computation and bank submissions independently owned and verified; limit utilisation monitoring live; restructured Group MIS in production.
Day 120: Plant cost-per-MT model live for Karthik Alloys with monthly variance reporting; Section 195 withholding framework documented for recurring foreign remittances.
Day 180: Open audit observations closed or formally re-dated with owners; reconciliation and compliance calendars operating; zero limit breaches, missed statutory deadlines and TDS/GST defaults.
Candidate Requirements
1. Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified CA or CMA with ICAI/ICMAI membership. CA Inter/IPCC/CMA Inter candidates are not eligible.
- 7–12 years of post-qualification experience.
- Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing consolidated financial statements for three or more legal entities, including inter-company elimination.
- Hands-on ownership of GST and TDS compliance for a multi-entity group, including GSTR-2B reconciliation and TDS return filing.
- Experience preparing or reviewing Drawing Power computations or stock-and-book-debt statements submitted to banks.
- Experience managing a team of five or more people.
- Live working experience in SAP FICO or an equivalent ERP module; viewer/report-consumer access alone is not sufficient.
- Willingness to commute to Anandpur, Kolkata and travel to Durgapur monthly.
1. Strongly Preferred
- Experience in ferro alloys, steel, metals, mining or process manufacturing.
- Section 195 and Form 15CA/15CB experience on foreign remittances, including treaty benefit analysis.
- Import/export exposure including Letters of Credit, buyer’s credit, shipping bills, eBRC, RoDTEP, DGFT and customs valuation.
- Experience representing an organisation in GST or Income Tax assessments, scrutiny or appeals.
- Transfer pricing documentation and Form 3CEB experience.
- Cost accounting in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.
- Experience building an MIS or consolidation process from scratch.
- Experience with ERP implementation, migration or clean-up.

Compensation & Employment Terms
- CTC: 12,00,000 – 14,00,000 per annum, based on merit and current compensation.
- Grade: Senior Manager or Deputy General Manager, determined by qualification, post-qualification experience and assessment outcome.
- Preferred Notice Period: Candidates who can join within 30–60 days will be preferred.
- Probation: 6 months, with a formal review against the Day 180 outcomes.
