Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Primary Design Engineer with 5–7 years of experience in the UK power distribution sector. The candidate will be responsible for the design and delivery of primary electrical infrastructure projects (up to 400kV), supporting

DNO/IDNO/ICP clients including UKPN, SSEN, and others.

The role requires strong technical expertise, familiarity with UK standards, and the ability to deliver high-quality design solutions within project timelines.

Qualifications

Your responsibilities will include the following.

Design of primary substations and electrical networks (up to 400kV)

Preparation of

 Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

 General Arrangement (GA) drawings

 Equipment layouts and earthing designs

 Cable routing and termination layouts

 Perform primary plant design calculations, including:

 Earthing design studies

 Equipment sizing and selection

 Busbar design and insulation coordination

 Ensure compliance with UK DNO/IDNO standards, including UKPN, SSEN,

ENA, and IEC standards

 Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Protection & Control, Civil, Planning)

 Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders





 Conduct design reviews and ensure quality assurance

 Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

 5–7 years of relevant experience in UK utility or consultancy workplace

 Experience working on UKPN, SSEN, or other DNO frameworks

 Exposure to IDNO/ICP connection projects

 Experience in site support, commissioning, or construction interface

Competencies

 Strong understanding of UK power distribution standards and specifications  Experience with DNO/IDNO/ICP projects (e.g., UKPN, SSEN frameworks)  Knowledge of:

o Substation layouts and primary equipment o Transformers, switchgear, CTs/VTs o Earthing systems and design tools  Familiarity with relevant standards:

o ENA Engineering Recommendations o IEC / BS standards  Proficiency in engineering tools such as:

o AutoCAD o ETAP / ELEK / CDEGS (or equivalent)  Good understanding of health & safety regulations (CDM Regulations preferred)  Strong communication and documentation skills

Pay: ₹31,405.24 - ₹45,792.49 per month
