Position:

Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Key Management Personnel (KMP)

Role

The CTO will lead NSDL’s technology strategy and transformation agenda, shaping resilient, secure and scalable platforms that support business growth, regulatory excellence and operational reliability. The role requires deep technology expertise, to oversee and manage technology-related system design, infrastructure, and operations, and the ability to align senior stakeholders while delivering measurable business impact. The CTO reports to the Executive Director, Critical Operations (Vertical 1).

Qualification

BE/BTech or equivalent in Computer Science/related discipline from a reputed institute; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.

Experience

20+ years in IT (may be relaxed in exceptional cases), including at least 5 years in Technology Leadership roles; BFSI or capital markets experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and execute NSDL’s technology vision, strategy and short- and long-term transformation roadmap aligned with business and regulatory objectives.

- To maintain a resilient and secure infrastructure framework that safeguards the quality, data integrity, privacy, confidentiality, and availability of public-facing services.

- Strengthen reliability, scalability, security, business continuity, disaster recovery and technology frameworks across critical platforms and applications.

- Managing risks in all information technology related functions.

- Formulate the information technology policy and the information technology risk management framework.

- Resolution and mitigation of observations arising from technology audits.

- Lead platform modernisation, architecture, engineering and technology consolidation to improve resilience, efficiency and user experience.





- Drive innovation using up-to-date technologies and industry best practices while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

- Build, mentor and retain a high-performing technology organisation with strong succession depth and accountable execution culture.

- Oversee technology governance, infrastructure, network operations and investment optimisation.

- Partner with the CISO to strengthen cybersecurity, data protection, quality assurance and technology resilience.

- Manage strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships with technology vendors, market infrastructure participants, regulatory bodies (SEBI, RBI, MoF), the Board, SCOT, and other key industry institutions.

Candidate Profile

- Experience: 20+ years in IT (may be relaxed in exceptional cases), including at least 5 years in Technology Leadership roles; BFSI or capital markets experience preferred.

- Technology acumen: Hands-on experience leading enterprise-scale transformation, platform modernisation and secure, resilient technology operations in regulated environments.

- Education: BE/BTech or equivalent in Computer Science/related discipline from a reputed institute; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification desirable.

- Other eligibility: Indian citizen and passport holder; must meet fit and proper requirements under the Companies Act, 2013 and applicable SEBI regulations.

Appointment and Regulatory Requirements

- Selection and appointments will be governed by the SEBI (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 2018, Companies Act, 2013, applicable SEBI circulars, Company policies and other laws as amended from time to time.

- The candidate should demonstrate depth across architecture, design, development, infrastructure, network and server management, preferably in large-scale technology development companies, fintech or regulated BFSI systems.
