About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounts Head / Accounts Manager to lead the finance and accounting function for our growing multi-location retail business .

The role will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting operations, including balance sheet finalisation, store sales and collection reconciliation, BRS, ledger scrutiny, statutory compliance, MIS reporting, financial controls, and team management .

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in accounting and financial operations, preferably within a retail, multi-store, FMCG, distribution, or other multi-location business environment .

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Finalisation

- Lead the complete accounting function and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of books of accounts.
- Lead balance sheet finalisation and ensure accuracy of all financial records.
- Review and ensure the integrity of the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and ensure timely corrective action.
- Coordinate with auditors for statutory and financial audits.

1. Retail & Store Accounting

- Oversee daily reconciliation of store sales, collections, cash, card, UPI, online payments, and other modes of collection .
- Monitor accounting entries and financial transactions across multiple retail locations.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of store-level transactions with bank and accounting records.
- Review discrepancies in sales, collections, refunds, discounts, and other store transactions.
- Strengthen processes for accurate and timely store accounting.

1. Bank & Ledger Reconciliation

- Review and approve Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) .




- Ensure timely reconciliation of bank, cash, customer, vendor, and other ledger accounts.
- Monitor outstanding items and ensure appropriate follow-up and closure.
- Conduct periodic ledger scrutiny and ensure accurate classification of transactions.

1. Accounts Payable & Receivable

- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations.
- Monitor vendor invoices, payments, outstanding balances, and ageing.
- Ensure timely customer/vendor reconciliation.
- Establish appropriate controls for payment processing and approvals.
- Monitor receivables and support timely collection and reconciliation.

1. MIS & Management Reporting

- Prepare and review monthly MIS and financial reports for management.
- Provide management with accurate financial insights and analysis.
- Track revenue, expenses, margins, receivables, payables, and other key financial indicators.
- Support management in financial decision-making through timely and accurate reporting.

1. Budgeting & Financial Planning

- Drive budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify significant variances.
- Provide variance analysis and recommendations to management.
- Support business teams in financial planning and cost optimisation.

1. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with applicable statutory and taxation requirements.
- Oversee GST, TDS, income tax, and other applicable regulatory compliances .
- Coordinate with tax consultants, auditors, and statutory authorities wherever required.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for statutory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial regulations.

1. Internal Controls & Audit

- Develop and strengthen financial controls across stores and Head Office.
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate control mechanisms.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure audit observations are addressed within defined timelines.
- Establish processes to minimise financial leakage, errors, and control gaps.

1. Team Management

- Lead, manage, and mentor the accounts team.
- Define responsibilities, processes, and performance standards for team members.




- Review the team's work and ensure accuracy and timely completion of deliverables.
- Build a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to team members on complex accounting matters.

Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and bookkeeping .
- Expertise in BRS and ledger reconciliation .
- Strong understanding of retail/store accounting .
- Experience in managing accounts for multi-location businesses .
- Knowledge of GST, TDS, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Robust understanding of General Ledger, AP, AR, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel .
- Experience with Tally, SAP, ERP, or other accounting software .
- Strong team management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the complete finance function.

Qualifications

UG:

- B.Com / B.Com (Finance)
- BBA / BMS (Finance)
- Any relevant Graduate degree

PG / Professional Qualification:

- M.Com / MBA/PGDM – Finance
- CA Inter / CA preferred
- Equivalent professional qualification in Finance & Accounting will also be considered.

Experience
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounting.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial / team leadership role preferred.
- Experience in retail, FMCG, distribution, e-commerce, hospitality, or other multi-location businesses will be an advantage.
