Join our dynamic team as a Land Surveyor Trainee, where you will embark on an exciting journey into the world of land surveying and geospatial data collection. This paid internship offers a hands-on experience in field and office environments, allowing you to develop essential skills in surveying techniques, data analysis, and drafting. As a key contributor to our projects, you'll assist in collecting accurate land measurements, operating advanced surveying equipment, and supporting the creation of precise maps and plans.

Responsibilities

- Assist with field surveying activities including topographic surveys, construction layout surveys, ALTA surveys, and land boundary determinations
- Operate surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble GNSS), laser scanners (LiDAR), and data collectors to gather accurate spatial data
- Support utility locating efforts to identify underground infrastructure using specialized tools and techniques
- Conduct data collection using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation) and GIS platforms like ArcGIS for mapping and analysis
- Help with drafting schematic drawings, legal descriptions, construction staking plans, and survey reports




- Participate in the operation of 3D scanners and other advanced survey technologies for detailed site modeling
- Perform field measurements with hand tools, levels, and total stations while ensuring safety protocols are followed during heavy lifting or challenging conditions

Qualifications

- Basic understanding of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math principles relevant to land surveying
- Familiarity with surveying equipment operation including total stations, GPS systems, levels, and CAD software such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D
- Knowledge of GIS applications like ArcGIS for spatial data analysis and mapping
- Experience or coursework in construction layout surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, or legal descriptions is a plus
- Ability to perform field surveying tasks accurately while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong data collection skills combined with analytical thinking for interpreting survey results
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and support project documentation
