Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programmes; or are visiting programmes; therefore a police check will be required.

Applicable level for this role: Level 3. The Community Volunteer will have frequent, direct contact with children, adolescents and pregnant women in community settings, including during outreach sessions, health camps and school-linked activities.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Bal Raksha Bharat (BRB), in collaboration with Mondelez India Foods Pvt Ltd, is implementing Aarogya Nirantar - Ensuring Continuity and Sustainability of Health and Nutrition Services - across 24 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), six each in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The project is Phase II of an ongoing Health System Strengthening partnership and focuses on sustaining and institutionalizing the gains of Phase I through community ownership and convergence with existing government platforms.

The Community Volunteer is the project s last-mile link between the Ayushman Arogya Mandir and the community it serves. Catchment habitations are often 5-7 km from the facility, and many families - particularly women, children and adolescents - remain unaware of the preventive and promotive services available to them.

The Community

Volunteer will mobilize these households, support outreach sessions and campaigns organized by the AAM, and follow up on referrals to ensure that identified health needs are actually met.

Each Community Volunteer will cover six AAMs and their catchment habitations within the assigned state, working closely with ASHAs, ANMs, Community Health Officers, Jan Arogya Samiti members, Panchayati Raj Institutions, VHSNCs and Self-Help Groups.

Role Dimensions / Key Responsibilities

- Liaise with Community Health Officers, ANMs, ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, Jan Arogya Samiti members, PRI representatives, VHSNC members, SHG federations and school teachers within the assigned catchment.
- Mobilize communities for outreach and service uptake through PRI, VHSNC and Self-Help Group platforms across all assigned AAM catchments.
- Support the AAM team in organizing and conducting VHSND sessions, health melas and outreach camps, including community mobilization, registration and crowd management.
- Support the roll-out of SBCC campaigns on maternal health, non-communicable diseases, adolescent health and WASH; distribute IEC and SBCC materials within the catchment.




- Support PPP-driven specialized health camps (eye care, dental and NCD screening) - mobilize eligible beneficiaries, assist with registration and ensure post-camp follow-up.
- Support convergence with the School Health & Wellness Programme (Eat Right movement) - mobilize adolescents for anemia screening and follow up on micronutrient supplementation.
- Assist frontline workers in updating outreach microplans; help identify underserved and hard-to-reach habitations within the catchment.
- Support identification and referral of pregnant women, under-5 children showing danger signs, adolescents with suspected anemia and suspected NCD cases to the AAM; follow up to confirm that referrals have been completed.
- Support Jan Arogya Samiti meetings - inform members, mobilize attendance and assist the Project Coordinator with meeting records.
- Support the facility team in collecting and displaying patient feedback, and in making entitlements and Citizen Charter information visible to the community.
- Maintain daily activity records and submit weekly and monthly reach data to the Project Coordinator in the prescribed format, disaggregated by gender wherever applicable.
- Immediately report any child protection or safeguarding concern to the Project Coordinator in line with BRB s Child Safeguarding Policy.
- Any other work assigned by the Project Coordinator or Project Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum a graduate degree in any discipline, preferably social work, social sciences, nursing or public health, will be an added advantage.
- Resident of the project district, and preferably of the AAM catchment area - essential.
- Fluency in the local language of the assigned state is essential; working knowledge of Hindi or English will be an advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

- 1-3 years of experience in community mobilization at village or block level.
- Prior experience as an ASHA facilitator, community volunteer, SHG animator, youth group member or with an NGO / CBO working on health, nutrition or WASH will be strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with government health platforms - Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, VHSND, VHSNC and Jan Arogya Samiti - will be an asset.
- Ability to maintain simple registers and activity records accurately.
- Ability to use a mobile phone for reporting,



photographs and basic data entry; comfort with a smartphone-based reporting application will be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned catchment, including to habitations 5-7 km from the facility and in difficult terrain, using own or public transport.
- Possession of a two-wheeler and a valid driving license will be an advantage, particularly in Himachal Pradesh.

KEY COMPETENCIES

- Good understanding of local community structures - Gram Panchayat, VHSNC, Self-Help Groups, Mahila Mandals and adolescent groups.
- Working awareness of Ayushman Bharat, the services available at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and the local public health system.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with families and with facility staff.
- Ability to work sensitively with women, adolescents, persons with disability and households from marginalized communities.
- Ability to counsel and motivate community members on health-seeking behaviour without being directive or judgmental.
- Basic record-keeping and reporting skills.
- Demonstrable commitment to child safeguarding, gender equality and social inclusion.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining regular contact with the Project Coordinator.
