Assistant Professor – Interior Design

About the Role

Chandigarh University invites applications from creative, passionate, and academically accomplished professionals for the position of Assistant Professor in Interior Design. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to design education through teaching, studio mentoring, research, innovation, and industry engagement while preparing students for successful careers in interior and spatial design.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Interior Design and related disciplines.
- Conduct studio-based teaching, design critiques, workshops, and practical sessions.
- Develop course plans, studio projects, assessments, and learning resources aligned with industry standards.
- Mentor students in design thinking, portfolio development, internships, competitions, and career planning.
- Guide students in live projects, exhibitions, installations, and design showcases.
- Contribute to curriculum development, review, and enhancement activities.
- Engage in research, publications, design consultancy, creative practice, and innovation initiatives.
- Foster collaborations with architects, designers, consultants, developers, and industry partners.
- Support accreditation, quality assurance, admissions, and institutional development initiatives.
- Participate in departmental, School, and University-level academic and administrative activities.

Eligibility Criteria

- Master's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Design, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Ph.D. in the relevant discipline from a recognized University (Mandatory).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design expertise, creative work, academic projects, or professional practice.
- Evidence of research publications, design projects, exhibitions, consultancy assignments, or industry engagement will be preferred.

Preferred Profile

- Graduates from premier institutions such as CEPT University, SPA, NID, NIFT, IITs (Design), JJ School of Architecture, or other nationally/internationally reputed institutions will be preferred.
- Experience in studio teaching, design mentoring, and industry collaboration.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max, Lumion, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent tools.
- Strong industry exposure and professional practice experience will be an added advantage.
